If you were watching tv, and you didn't like the show, would you change the channel?

If you were listening to the radio, and didn't like the song, would you switch radio stations?

If you were reading a magazine, and didn't like an article, wouldn't you just skip over it?

Just wondering :)

What can I do next?

Wait wait JUST WAIT...
I can do that!??!

Whoa..so what you're saying...is that I don't have to read, watch or listen, to things I do not like!? But I thought that I had to do all of that and comment on everything I hate about them. Like isn't that my job or something??

Blowing my mind...

HECK NO! I would call the television station, radio stations, and magazine editors. They should KNOW what bugs me, and since anyone who doesn't agree with me is OBVIOUSLY wrong, they shouldn't be putting anything out there unless it gets my approval. I mean, seriously, why should anyone be entitled to their own opinion when MINE is the only one that could possibly be right?

Hee hee.

Nope. I'd sit and watch, listen and read because I have nothing better to do. And of course report people on Mamapedia for things I don't agree with.
J/K I have a life.
The only time I ever reported anyone was that stupid snow stroller post. That drove me crazy.

Whoa, are you kidding? There's no way I can change the channel, someone else always has the remote. And if I switch radio stations, like you mean in the car?? My kids would throw a huge fit and hey, I'm trying to drive, we might have an accident. And when I ready a magazine, I read it from front to back and don't skip any articles. Someone took time and effort to write those articles and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by skipping over them.

I'm only kinda kidding. This is how I operated til just a couple of years ago. It was no fun at all. Thanks for the thought provoking post, R. D.

TV... only watch DVR'd shows now, so not only do I only watch things that interest me, but we zoom through the commercials too!

Radio... definitely would change the station.

Reading a magazine (or book for that matter)... nope, I am weird about written material. If I start it, I finish it even if it's not that interesting. My husband thinks I'm nuts when I finish a book and say "That was terrible"- his first statement is always "Then why did you waste a week reading it?" My response "In case it got better by the end!"

Yes to all three questions. Why waste time on something that you don't enjoy when you don't have to watch/listen to/read it? Life is too short.

1. It would depend on whether anyone else was watching it with me, and whether anything else was on or whether I was just letting the TV blare for comfort. Except if it was violent or gross in which case I would change to something else immediately!
2. Probably because if it's music I don't like it's probably loud and irritating.
3. Definitely, but might have to read a bit of it to determine I wasn't interested.

R.:

If I'm watching a program and it doesn't interest me - I would change the channel. However, if the family is watching with me - I would ask them if they minded if I changed the channel. If they don't agree to change, I would get up and do something different.

I change radio stations like an ADD/ADHD person - I can't stand commercials so when I'm driving - I'm changing the station - mid song if I don't like the song or at the end....

Reading a book? If I don't like it - I don't finish it.
Magazine? Depending upon the topic - I won't finish it. If it's political - I most likely will finish reading it to see if I can learn anything from another person's point of view.

1- turn it off
2- turn it off
3- put down the magazine and pick up a good book. I've re-read Jane Eyre several times. It gets better every time.

Of course. Why would I waste my time watching a show, listening to a song, or reading an article that doesn't appeal to me?
