My mom passed away in December leaving me a collection of old music (also books, etc.)I know some of them must be worth money, but I don't know where to take them. I'm looking for a collector/dealer of such items preferably in Broward or Southern Palm Beach County. Hopefully someone honest who won't try to rip me off! I know I need to be very careful and I'm leary of doing this online.

What can I do next?

If you don't find someone - I recently took mine to BCC Broward Community College Library - they will take them. Others will be able to enjoy the past. J. D. Tutwiler

Go online and search "vinyl" or record collectors, or try "Goggling" some of the titles / artists and looking up the current purchase price of individual albums. They may have value to someone as a whole as a collection. Also bear in mind, popular albums are usually not worth too much because they sold so many. Hope this helps. Good look with your inquiries.

Hi K.,
I'm sorry you lost your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Once you find the value of the items you want to sell, you can place a free ad in the Sun-Sentinel. www.sun-sentinel.com . Click on Place an Ad (on the left, under Classifieds). Then look for the free ad under Merchandise. The ad will be in the Thursday-Sunday classifieds section of the paper and an online ad. Just yesterday, I sold my aunt's lift chair thru a free ad.

Check out http://fortlauderdale.craigslist.org/ (free) and eBay (fee to use). I use eBay to search (that's free) for recent sales of same item.
Be ready to write detailed descriptions of each record and if possible a photo is helpful. I've sold some of my old records this way. Good luck!

There's a place on Atlantic Blvd in Pompano Beach. I cannot remember the name. However, it on the North side of the street just before going over the Intracoastal Waterway. So, it is between Cafe Max and Houston's (closer to Houston's).

I am sorry about your Mom.

Check out ebay first to see if you can find any of the same items. See what there going for and maybe you can sell the stuff on Ebay..

See if anyone is selling on Ebay and check out how much they are selling for you so you have an idea when you take them to a dealer so you don't get ripped off.

I would check Ebay. I made some pretty good money selling some of my husband's old LP albums. (Half of them were old albums that he bought as a teen and didn't even have a record player, it was CD's by then *lol*)

Anyway I sold a bunch on Ebay and the best money came from shipping them Internationally, you would be suprised what people would pay! :)
Or if you are looking not to ship them, you could try a local group like Craigslist or something. I am sure dealers would contact you!
Good luck!
