Mama's it's almost time for winter! My daughter had a baby/toddler sled that goes up to 3 years. Last year she was hanging off it, so we'd like to get her a new one this year. I know sledding is dangerous, so I'd like to ask if you have recommendations on sleds that are safe yet fun for this preschool age/size. thanks!

What can I do next?

Wow, we are breaking all kinds of records down here like "most days of 100+ degree temps" and "most days w/o rain".

But, shifting gears from our weather, if I remember, growing up we used a disk in Chicago. They are fast but if weigh it down w/a few kids or a parent, you can control the speed pretty well. After I got married we moved to Trenton, NJ and bought a tobaggan and it was awful. The snow was so fluffy we couldn't go anywhere. BUT our friends let us borrow their sled which looked like a low lying kayak and it was great. Their kid (maybe 5 or 6) had what looked like a plastic tobaggan but it had a ski under the turning wheel. I can't remember if she was strapped in or not but she scooted right along w/the rest of us downt he hill.

I miss those day and think of them often as I walk out of my house early in the morning and its 80 degrees before 8am.

Have fun!

My kids have had all kinds of sleds and the one they all prefer is the simple, cheap disc thing that just looks like a circle with holes for handles.

I am reading your words, but they are foreign to me.. Winter, Sled?

We have set the record for the hottest summer in the history of our city..
I am jealous.. We are just hoping for a day without 100 degrees at this point.

Both my kids have the Zipfy Luge and they LOVE it! They are low to the ground for spills, ride feet first, it's easy to steer using body weight, and boy, is it fast! All their friends (and even some of the adults!) ask to have turns on them.

I got them out of a catalog, but don't remember which one. Hearthsong, maybe? But you can look it up online, I'm sure. Zipfy is the company. They make a junior one, also, for 3 - 6 year olds. About 30 bucks, I think.
