2 Year Old with Cold and a Rash

My 2 year has had a cold for the past few days. She's been sneezing and rubbing her eyes a lot, and nose is very runny. Today she has developed a rash on her neck and chest. Could this be something other than a cold? The rash is very itchy, I put some aquaphor on it which helped a little. She is overall just stuffy and very cranky. I'm debating if we should go to urgent care (would possibly have to wait a couple hours for doctor to say she has a cold!)

Aquaphor & Mylanta for Diaper Rash????

I read in either Parents or Babytalk that you can use a mixture of Eucerin Aquaphor and Mylanta on diaper rash and that it works great. Has anyone ever tried this? I'm about at my wits end with a never ending diaper rash on my daughter. It will go away for a day or two and then comes right back.

Any Advice for Breastfeeding Mom with Acne?

Ever since getting pregnant with my second son, now 13 months, I have had terrible acne breakouts on my face and neck. I have tried Proactiv, Murad and just about every other over the counter treatment I could get my hands on because my doctor won't prescribe anything as long as I am breastfeeding. Nothing has helped, and I'm tired of feeling ugly all the time. I won't leave my house without make-up, but even that only partially masks the problem. I had planned to wean at a year and then go see my doctor for help, but neither baby nor I are...

Inflammatory Breast Cancer - What Woud You Want?

My favorite Aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be having a masectomy next week followed by radiation. She lives many states away from me so I am not able to be there for her, but I would like to send something - what would you like if you were her? I have never been close to anyone who has gone through this and I am at a loss as to how to support her other than cards and prayer. I was thinking maybe a pamper basket with items such as slippers and tea......Any ideas?

14-Month-old Is Constipated

My 14-month-old son is constipated a few times a week. I have been in contact a few times with the pediatrician's office and am doing everything I can. This started when he was switched over from formula to whole milk. Also, he does not drink much water. I am always forcing it on him, but he won't drink much. I give him prunes or blueberries to eat, make his baby cereal with prune juice, give him whole grain foods, etc. I also water down his milk and occasionally put Karo syrup in his milk. He still has problems with constipation. ...

Baby with Diarrhea

Hello, My 11 month old daughter has had diarrhea for 4 days. I spoke with her pediatrician on day 2 and she said as long as she was well hydrated, we shouldn't worry, it will pass. Then, the next day, she didn't seem to be wetting diapers so I took her to the local clinic (our pediatrician is about an hour away). They said she looked fine and they thought it would pass. Now we are going on day 5 and I am getting worried. Her poor little bottom is so sore and she's been fussy through it all. Has any one else had a baby with diarrhea this...

Nasal Congestion and Red Cheeks

My 5 year old has nasal congestion frequently and at times it can turn into an infection that requires an antibiotic. Sometimes when she gets nasal congestion, her cheeks get red. We thought she may be having an allergic reaction to something. The pediatrician recently sent my daughter to have blood drawn for allergy testing. All tests (trees, animals, nuts, shellfish, etc.) came back negative, but she keeps getting nasal congestion and red cheeks. Has anyone experienced this or know what might cause it when allergy testing is negative?

Baby Thermometers and Checking for Fever?

Can anyone recommend a specific thermometer that they like for babies? Is there a difference between thermometers marketed for babies and those for adults? Is there a range in quality, or will any digital thermometer do? Also, I have been taking my son's temperature under his arm when checking for a fever, but it always seems low--lower than regular body temperature. Should I be checking a different way? Any advice on how best to tell if baby has a fever? What temperature constitutes something to worry about? Thank you!

Hand Foot and Mouth

My son was just diagnosed with Hand Foot and Mouth and I am reaching out to all you moms who have had a child with this. Between the internet and the Dr. and neighbors and family, I am getting confused about how long it is supposed to last, how contagious it is, and when it would be safe for him to be around other kids. The Dr. told me it's fine just as long as they don't share sippy cups because it is transmitted through saliva. The internet is saying that the blisters will open and the fluid inside is what contains the virus and at...

How to cure itchy head after cradle cap on infant?

I hope someone can help/or have experience with this. My 9 month old son had cradle cap as a baby that went away somewhat on his own (with help from me picking of course). Well for the past 5 months his head itches sooo bad that he scratches all day but most intense at night. For this reason he scratches himself awake every 3 hours at night (draining me!). I have seen 2 doctors and a dermatologist and all they keep giving me is steroid and pseudo-steroid creams that do not work and I refuse to keep using. I have tried olive oil, jojoba oil,...
