Developmental Progress of 3 Month Old

My son is 3 months old and has been staying home with Daddy for the past 2 weeks. We've noticed that he absolutely LOVES watching TV and this kinda scares me. I don't want him to be glued, however, something tells me he's not actually enjoying what's on TV that he's actually enjoying the colors and movement on the TV. I know lots of professionals feel that TV for babies is a HUGE no no! But if it stimulates the brain and it's educational than can it hurt? I've thought about buying the Baby Einstein DVD. Does anyone have it and how does this...

Wean or Not to Wean? That Is the Question...

I am 6 months pregnant with my second child. My son just turned one year. I always thought I would have him weaned by his first birthday, but that didn't go as planned. He still seems to need it to comfort him to fall asleep, etc... Anyway, I am not sure I want to tandem nurse and was wondering if anyone had any good advice for me. The birth of my second child is fast approaching. I also do not want to wean him to near to the homecoming of our new addition because I don't want him to resent his sibling. Please let me know what your...

Infant Educational Products (Like Baby Einstein)

I am writing a paper about infant educational programs and products. I wonder, have you ever purchased a product to make your baby smarter or to help your baby learn academic skills? Something like Baby Einstein, Brainy Baby, Baby Prodigy, Your Baby Can Read, etc. What were your motivations? Do you feel like the products "worked," was it worth the money and/or time that you invested? Do you think that a genius can be "created" through such programs?

Poor Weight Gain???

Well the story is a long one but here are the basics. Daughter was born 7.7 healthy. Is now 14 months and has been labeled "failure to thrive" from doctor. Doctor wants to get a sweat test to test for CF. My daughter has been dropping down on her growth chart ever since she was 6 months old. She is now in the 9% percentile. She eats somewhat, but is pretty picky and doesn't eat a lot when she does eat. I still breast feed. She drinks 1-3 pedisures a day instructed from the GI doctor (baby shake). Not at all...

Entertaining a 3-Month Old?

I have just recently begun staying home with my beautiful 3-month old daughter. She is amazingly alert and doesn't take very long naps during the day (maybe 30-45 minutes). I am a scientist at heart and not very creative. I had no idea how much free time I would have with her...trying to entertain her!!! Please help me. What advice can you give? I run out of ideas very quickly. I don't like leaving her for long periods in the swing/bouncer seat etc...(not that she likes to stay in them long either). I like to save those for when I really...

Advice on Cluster Feeding

Hello all. My little girl just turned two weeks today and I am exclusively breastfeeding. I am over the initial engorgement and my nipple tenderness has pretty much subsided. She is gaining weight well and has a pretty good latch. I nursed my now 27 month old for 8 months but it was never easy. I have a couple of questions/concerns. My daughter seems to be falling into a pattern of cluster feeding in the late afternoon early evening hours ( 4 to 6:30 pm) I pick my 2 year old up from day care at 4, so this has been very trying on us....

Advice Needed PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

I have a few concerns that I would love some advice on... My son Grant will be six months old on April 1st. He was on breastmilk for the first four months and then we slowly added in formula. Grant was extremely gassy with the breast milk and was colicky as a baby. His gas didn't get better or worse with the formula, but the doctor had my try Similac Sensitive to help with the gas he was having. He is still really gassy and will spit up and burp even hours after eating. It even wakes him up at times. Anyone experience this with their...

Baby Einstein Videos

Just wanted opinions on the Baby Einstein Videos. It is my understanding they were developed by a stay at home Mom trying to find something to stimulate her children's minds. I don't obviously want my child raise by the tv but I thought a half hour of this when he's fussy just to settle him down a bit is ok. Does anyone have any of these videos and do they really work?
