Am I the Only One? - Dallas, TX

I am 23 years old and a stay at home mom to an 8 month old little girl. I don't know many other "young moms" (as my parents put it) that stay at home with kiddos. I just want to meet other moms with kids close in age to my daughter. I know that my "single, childless" friends don't ever seem to understand my life or the fact that my daughter comes first. I would love to meet other "young mommies"!

What can I do next?

I know you posted this a long time ago but jeeze! I feel the same way! I'm 23 and I have a 15 month old. If you want to get together anytime please let me know! My friends without kids dont get that i cant just go to the movies like talking about it. Kids scream and laugh and cry! Then I'm the annoying Mom with a kid trying to see a normal movie. By normal I mean NOT ANIMATED! I would love to hear from you!

Try www.meetup.com. If I had children your childs age I would be eligible for more groups, but since my kids are older, they are limited. So, you'll have a great selection.

Hey! My husband and I are in our early 20's and have a 1 year old. We were in the same boat and joined the Heights church in Richardson ABF class. About half of the class has children and the other are trying. Ages are like 20 - 30 and all the kids are under 2. The ladies get together once a week for what they call todler time, but here are newborns up the the two year olds. They meet at parks, malls and all kinds of places. Then every other tuesday the girls meet at a different girls house and have a recipe easy meal swap, where we mak the meal and everybody chats. We are also haveing a kick ball tournament comming up and all the guys are pumped up about it! Yall should come - we need visitors to complete our team, it would be fun! Let me know if you are interested 0 we have been involved in it for a year and i have met some of my best girlfriends! Hope to hear from you, L.

There is a lot of groups (all kind of groups, mommies and any other interests!) if you go to www.meetup.com There you type in your zip code and what you are looking for (say... "playgroup" or anything like that). I belong to a playgroup in Collin County Moms through meetup and it is a wonderful group of moms with kids of all ages. If you send me your email I can send you direct invitation to join... or you can browse it on your own. Our groups has something to do a few times a week, and you can join in the playdate or not. Itis fun - for kids AND moms! Try it, browse it, and I hope it will help you a little.

Your age doesn't matter. When you're a mom, you're a mom. Anyway, there are moms of all ages in my Carrollton group, and the babies are all pretty young, ranging from "bun in the oven" to about 2. You are more than welcome to join us. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CarrolltonMoms/?yguid=5335494

N.,
I am in the same boat. I am 26 with a 9 month old. I was the first on my friends to get married and have a baby. It was a little isolating. My mom encouraged me to find a mommy group. I joined an exercise class called StrollerFit. I have met so many moms my age, and have made some great friends. I encourage you to check it out. We do a Mommy and me playdate once a month and a Mom's night out as well, so you get a chance to hang out and chat as well as get some exercise. Here is the website www.strollerfit.com I hope this helps!

Me too!! FINALLY my friends are starting to get married. My hubby and I got married very young, one year out of high school. But we finished up college, and got pregnant a few months later, so that makes me 23 with an almost 2 year old! I would love to get together and hang out. I know a few other "young" mom's as well. I know people must assume that I got pregnant before getting married, or had to drop out of school... and I HATE those stereotypes.

I live in the Valley Ranch area. It would be so awesome to meet up somewhere and get to know each other!
