sorry.....thinking outside of the clothes here:
no clothes, no kids.....& a bed. :)
that's my fav dinner menu....& then we either order in or go out.
Tomorrow night is our anniversary :) I usually make filet mignon with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. This year i would like to switch it up a little. Does anyone have any fun ideas? I would need to stop at the store after work, so it cant be too time consuming. It would also help if it was not too expensive. Time to dust off the candles... i am so excited! Thank you all in advance, i love new ideas and love to cook!
Toni V. We have been married for 16 years, since i was 19 :) I thank you all for your wonderful ideas! I am proud to say that for the 1st time ever, my husband made reservations! He took me to the melting pot, it was wonderful! To the mom (forgive me, i cant see names when i am in edit mode) that suggested fondue i think that reminded him. I had been wanting to try the melting pot forever! I will try each of your ideas on other "special" nights :)

How about Chinese take out and some beer and/or champagne or both? As another mama sort of suggested, have dinner in the bedroom and wear a pretty night gown, have candles a nice dessert, music and so on. BUT....make sure all these ideas will fit into you and your man's ideas of a wonderful anniversary. Sounds like you've been doing something right for a while....HOW many years now? So if you know your guy is a steak and potato man, maybe just a new veggie and EXTRA romance.
Happy Anniversary and keep us posted.
My husband and I love white pastas with creamy sauces - like alfredo, but we rarely eat it for obvious reasons. If you like that, how about adding some shrimp or a little lobster or crab or something. If you can get the seafood at the counter already out of the shells, it will be easy to sautee up. You probably wouldn't have time to make the sauce from scratch at this point, but buy a better prepared one.
Don't forget the bread, if you are already having a carb fest, why stop with the pasta! :)
Congratulations!
Try fondue, it's nice to have fun dipping and being silly like that. You can dip almost anything and you don't really need a pot, just cook the stuff and put in a ceramic dish you have put in the oven for a while so it's hot. Other than that, the sky's the limit on dipping. You can do the same for chocolate too and have fruit after wards.
Try a fondue cheese and chocolate and put them each in a ceramic bowl, pop in the oven to melt and then just worry about cutting up bread or boiling finger potatoes and veges and fruit.
