Do they have a play area? Is it inside, on the small side and enclosed with 1 miniscule bench inside? Do you let your kids play in there while you sit outside the glass? Or are you right on top of them the whole time?
Depends of the age. but yes it is a small bench and I use to sit in there to watch when they were a toddler, but now they go in all by them selves. LOVE THE FOOD
I have been to a Chick-Fil-A. They are new in my area. I have not take my kids there yet. But, my kids don't like the play area.
And I will admit, I am such a germ freak. I don't like them playing on theose things anyway. I know they can get germs anywhere...but I had a sister who worked at a place like Chuck E Cheese and let me tell you the stories about what the employees had to clean up on those playgrounds....yuck!
I sit RIGHT outside the glass. I have four girls: 7, 6, almost 4 and 2 1/2. I watch them very closely. I'm right in there if I need to be though, sitting on the bench- especially if there is a child or more in there that isn't behaving properly (that isn't mine... I'm not bragging, but my kids ALWAYS behave well in situations like that- they are just so excited about playing, they don't want to ruin it-cause they know I'll take them home if they misbehave).
It ALWAYS seems like the parents that SHOULD be there are the ones on the other side of the restaurant! LOL!
I let them go in and play while I sit in an area that I can see them and enjoy my lunch.
We used the indoor play area when my son was little.
The rules at this place stated the kids had to be under a certain height and a parent had to supervise (be in the room) with their kids.
I've seen kids who were way too big playing, and quite a few that were running wild with no supervision.
On a few occasions another parent complained to management and they cleared the room and enforced the rules. No parent with you? No matter what your size you don't play. Too tall? You don't play.
It made it really nice for the little kids not to have the big kids pushing them around.
The one by me has a teensy weensy play area with two small benches. I will let my 3.5 yr old go in alone if I have a seat right by the glass. But now my 1 yr old wants to go in too, so I am back in the play area full time once he is done eating. There are a couple a little farther from me with larger play areas so I may have to start going a bit farther so I have a better place to sit! We just love chick-fil-a, the food is great!!
The one by us doesn't have a play area at all. They do have special activitites planned inside the restaurant all the time.
It depends on the age of my kids and the general crowd as to whether I am right there on top of them or not. I always make sure I am within yelling distance if they need things though.
Interesting you ask...I think about this a lot while at Chick fil A...Mine are 2.5 and 4.5. I completely trust my older to play w/o me being inside the play area, my younger I am still kind of iffy about. The problem that I find, which you may have run into since you talked about the bench, is that there is just no where near enough room for a gaggle of kids AND parents to fit in there. I am usually the ONLY parent on that bench...and a lot of times there are no tables w/ views thru the glass free so I don't have that option either. Recently I have let both of mine go in by themselves but only after I run thru a list of no's and then I watch closely thru the glass and stick my head in every 5 minutes or so to check on them (really just the 2 y/o). My youngest still needs me to be "right on top" of him in situations like that b/c he will get physical quickly...
We do go there. Although, all the playareas are different, but most of them are enclosed within the restaurant. My kids are 6&4, so I do let them go in on their own . . . not much room for parents.
The one I go to doesn't have a play area. In fact, I don't know that any of the ones I have been to have play areas.
If it did have one I would be on top of her. She's a hard headed and a dare devil 2 y/o, and would probably end up outside on the roof if I didn't watch her closely.
Chick fil a saves me on cold, wet, or really hot days. My daughter loves the food and they have a great indoor play area. The chick fil a near us has the playland surrounded by glass, so I sit in a booth right outside where I can see her at all times.
Yes, Chick fil A is just like any other fast food restaraunt. Some of them have play areas and some dont. And I ALWAYS right on top of them. Some kids is bad and some play really rough. You cant hear, and cant always tell whats going on watching from a distance. And I dont trust people, you hear about kids going missing almost everyday.
It depends on the Chick fil A you visit. Some have no play area, but most have some type -usually outdoors and maybe partially covered -at least around the Atlanta area and south Georgia. Personally I think if kids are small enough to play on most fast food play sets, then a parent needs to be somewhere very close by. If the play area interests and will accommodate older kids -say 8 and up -then they could play by themselves with you on the other side, but you should keep an eye on them.
Don't remember for sure, but here's my best guess. When they were under 4, I probably never let them go in there without me right with them. When they were 4 and 2, I would make them stay with me while I was ordering but let them play while I sat at one of the tables directly outside the glass. Now that they are 6 and 4, I sometimes let them go in while I am ordering, if the store and play area are not crowded and if I can see most (but not all) of it from the counter. At this point, I am more concerned about them mistreating younger kids (or just making other parents uncomfortable). If they appear to be "unsupervised" because I am across the store at the counter, it is only for a few minutes and only if the play area is empty. I don't know if my way is the right way, but there's my two cents.

Um mine are older so I just sit by the glass so I can see everything and let them play by themselves.
My son is only 20 months, so I am right there with him. He is a total dare devil. If he were older and not so fearless, I'd sit on the other side of the glass and enjoy my meal, while still keeping an eye on him.
We LOVE Chick-Fil-A! Ours do have play areas - one location has it indoors, other location is outside & fenced. Both have tables. The one with it outside is a more convenient location for us. I sit out at the tables & watch her play. I would never sit inside & not in the play area with her. I'm not on top of her, but at the tables so she can call to me. She'll be 5 next month.
I think they may be different sizes depending on the Chic-fil-a. My son is almost 4, but he's played alone in there when he was 2.5-3 years old. I sit right outside where I can look in the glass and get to the door easily if necessary.
