My husband and I are considering buying a minivan. Has anyone bought a minivan recently or have tips for certain models. Also have you gotten a good deal & recommend a certain dealership? How much can I expect payments per month to be? I would like an idea before I go sit somewhere and deal with salesmen for 5 hours. I hate car shopping!!!!! thanks everyone & please pass any tips you think might be helpful.

What can I do next?

I bought a 2006 Kia Sedona last year at Gwinnett Place Kia. I have been pretty happy so far but I had to get tough with them when there were some minor mechanical issues to get fixed. The last time I ened up getting free brake pads, rotors and a car wash though. A salesman friend from Florida suggested that I go on the last day of the month because that is when they push for last minute sales to meet monthly numbers. I got a decent deal. The only downside is that they may not have a lot of variety left. Another resource to check is edmunds.com

The gas mileage is pretty good. The safety rating was pretty high. When I did the research the only higher rated minivan was the Honda Odessay. I have tons of room for long trips with my 2 daughters and hubby. We pay about $375 a month for a LX with leather interior. Insurance is definitely lower.

Ken Earwood at Carmax in Norcross is the best!!!! We just moved here from Chicago, and we bought two cars from him. He totally took care of us, and treated us like family - none of that icky sales pressure stuff. He's great! We'll use him as long as we're in Atlanta. He even helped us with real estate info and contacts! It was truly like buying a car from my dad. Good luck!!

We bought a Dodge Grand Caravan two years ago. It's a 2004, so it was only a year old when we bought it with 18,000 miles on it. I love it. Our payments are about $320 a month for 5 years. Our insurance is actually lower now than it was with our older Honda Accord. My friend also has a Dodge Grand Caravan and loves it, too.

I have a Toyota Sienna and it is really reliable, it is our second one. It depends on how new and how much you want to spend, but my first one was 5 years old when I bought it and it was close to 10K. But 3 years later it was wrecked and the insurance gave me almost 8 k, they don't depreciate fast. My husband is a mechanic and swears by toyotas or hondas. You can usually get a better deal if you buy from an individual, but always ask to have it looked at by your mechanic before you buy, most people will let you do that. If you buy a new one, it could cost 25K and up. Good luck!

We have a Chrysler Town & Country and love it. We have had it for a year and half and leased it. The payment is about 350 for 2 years - it all depends on the discounts you can get. I love the stow and go seating and automatic doors. I was looking at this or the Honda. My girlfriend has the honda and loves it just wishes it had the stow and go. I wish I had the extra seat you can put in the honda. I think these 2 are the best on the market. I have read the new Kia minivan has been redesigned and is good and cheaper then C or Honda.
Hope this helps.
