Has anyone had issues with the service of ATT Uverse? We are on our second modem and continue to have issues. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

We have had Uverse for at least 4 years and have only had 2 or 3 problems with them. Usually it is the DVR unit that goes out. I still love them though.

Our gateway has been replaced 2 times in the past year. Maybe 3. We had great service the first two years, then these outage issues that they traced to the gateway - one affecting tv, the other time affecting our internet speed. But overall, we've been very pleased. DirecTV was great, but too expensive and we will NEVER go back to Time Warner.

I have known a few people who have not had good luck with ATT U-Verse. Last summer, I tried to get hooked up with it, and when the installer came out, he said I lived too far from the "junction box" or whatever they call where it stems from. He said they could hook it up, but would not assure me that I would get service when I wanted/needed. He told me that I needed to be within so many feet, I think something like less than 400. My neighbors across the street had it for a while, but was always a problem, so they gave it up and went to Comcast. This is in Raytown.

My son, in North KC had it for a while, but they had two computers and could not use them both at the same time, so they gave up the land line and now have Direct TV.

We had RoadRunner for 12 years and never had problems. We switched to UVerse in May and had nothing but problems the first two months...to the point we almost switched back. It turned out it was the wiring that we had for RR wasn't up to par for UVerse. We had to replace the wiring and the box once too. Haven't had challenges since July...knock on wood. Good luck and God Bless.

We had Uverse for exactly 2 years and when it worked, it was fabulous. The problem was it would go out on a regular basis. Sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for longer. We had no fewer than 15 service men out and at least 5 gateway modems. They finally decided we were just too far from the main box. Since they use fiber optic wire, the distance made it cut out all the time. I have no idea why it took two years to figure that out, but the guy who installed our Direct TV used to work for Uverse, and he said that was exactly the problem and it was something he saw all the time.
Good luck!

We wish we could go back to ATT Uverse. Our current address is not one that ATT can service. Instead we have Frontier, which absolutely sucks. Our home phone line drops more calls than my cell phone - no kidding.

Anyway, the thing about Uverse is that it's a fiber optic line, but unless you live in a brand-new neighborhood, the fiber optic doesn't go directly to your home. At some point it transfers over to the regular phone lines, which may be where the problem is happening. So it may not be your modem, but the actual lines going from the fiber optic line to the regular phone line. I don't know. We had a great experience with the quality of our service with Uverse, so I am just guessing. I hope you can get it resolved soon!
