its crazy isnt it?!?!? I have a few relatives that are a lot closer to the fires than I am. I have never remembered such an active fire season and I've lived here for all my 31 years.
Wanted to make sure all my fellow CO mama's are doing okay! I know there are several on here from Colorado Springs and other areas that may be affected by the fires. Is anyone having to be evacuated? Is anyone having a rough time from the smoke in the air? I wish well to everyone!

It's fire season for sure here in CA too. So far we've been lucky, but summer is YOUNG yet.
Uncontrolled fire is about as close to Hell as you can get.
Let's all do a rain dance, pray, keep our fingers crossed, etc... and hope for a mild fire season.
hi,
we are in fort -collins about 13 miles from the High park fire. We are doing ok as far as we haven't had to evacuate but a lot of people closer to the mountain had too. The smoke DOES get terrible sometimes that my kids (all small ) start coughing if we sat outside too long when you can smell or see the smoke. We still go out as i will go bonco keeping 4 small kids inside all day long.We just come in if the smoke smell gets too strong.Today wasn't so bad as it rains yesterday, not on the fire but the humidity helped the firefighters have more control on the fire.

Colorado has BEEN on fire since June 8th I think... it's been a while. I know many have been evacuated in general, but on here I am running with no news is good news.
We were up in Pagosa Springs and Durango this weekend and the smoke was pretty bad between the two cities (but not much smoke in either). And on our way home we drove past a new fire north of Aztec, NM. We saw the helicopters dropping water on the fires - something I've never seen before.
The whole West is so dry... there are fires in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. One of the fires in New Mexico is the biggest in state history already.
I work in Colorado Springs. The smoke is getting bad enough that it is permiating the buildings. We smell like a camp fire in here. Thankfully we are far enough away that we are not in danger, can not immagine what it is like closer to the fires. It is bad enough here.
prayers going out to EVERYONE being affected all the fires everywhere, i couple years ago we had to deal with a fire and it was so scary and stressful not knowing if you are going to have a home to come home to :(
Last night parts of Boulder city limits were given pre-evacuation orders. I didn't watch the news since 6 last night to know if those were extended, or if people were evacuated. We could see the fire from our part of South Denver. That one is very close to the city.
We have friends we stayed with on Friday night who were evacuated for the one between Aztec, NM and Durango. As far as I know everyone is safe in that one, but I don't know about structures. There was one in Farmington, NM that same day that took out three homes. Friends of ours fought that one and said it was fortunate it didn't spread further.
In Denver you can't smell smoke, but it's bad enough my asthmatic kid has been coughing for almost 2 weeks even though we've been keeping him inside and the windows closed. We have had to change air filters more often, too. Pueblo was bad from the one in the Springs when we were there. Our clothes smelled like we had been sitting at a fire pit.
I hope everyone continues to be safe. I know it's scary, especially with the pine beetles. Going over Wolf Creek pass last weekend we guessed there are probably about 5 dead trees for every live one, so it's probably going to be a long summer as much of our forests are infested. Keep safe, Mommies! Be assured we have a good community here in case you need help, too!
The smoke is pretty incredible. We are east of Colorado Springs, but we can see the smoke. From what I have heard, someone has been setting some of the fires at least. What a sick person. Our whole state is on fire. My sons said it looks like it has spontaneously combusted. We had one out closer to us on Sunday, but it was contained quickly. We live in the forest, so it makes me a little nervous.
Yikes. I did not know about Colorado but Utah has some fires too and several of my friends' families had to be evacuated this weekend. It is just hot and dry out West right now!
I had to be evacuated due to the Waldo Canyon Fire, and am still evacuated. I watched as the flames came down the ridge towards so many homes. For now I think my home is safe, but we are not able to go back to confirm. I have many friends and my Sister in-law whom have lost their homes. It was so scary, it happened in an instant. My family is safe and we are all doing ok.
