Family Watchdog is excellent....you can also receive email updates if an offender moves withing 5 miles of you also! This is the best I have found!
We are going to be moving. Does anyone know a website that lists the crime rate or statistics for a certain area or community that is free? I want to live in a safe community and these days it's hard to tell. Some really nice neighboorhoods have high number of brake ins etc. Also, does anyone have a website where you can check to see if any sex offenders live there?

Go to this link and enter your street address...it will show a "house"
in the middle of the map, that's your house... all the little colored
boxes are registered Sex Offenders... click on them and you get a, name,
address & picture of the person along with his crime... pretty amazing
and scary...it shows you where they live in proximity to your home and
the local schools.
Hope this helps!

Just click on Offender Search at the top!
Hi B.!
I'm not sure about researching crime rates. But, you can go to www.familywatchdog.us to search for sexual predators. You put your address in and it gives a map of the offenders.
Good luck with your move!

This is a must have site. It lists and maps all of the sex offenders in the area near you. You can also sign up for alerts if someone moves into the area and is a sex offender.
First of all, I would recommend that you search the address you are currently at, provided you are comfortable in the area you currently live. THEN do a search based on the address or streets where you are looking at living. That will give you a better idea.
You can check Jacksonville at www.coj.net. On the left are two scroll down menu options, on the top one select GIS Mapping. You will then need to approve that you've read the next page. When you enter addresses into this system, you will have to break it up, including the directional indicator. For instance, 123 W. Easy Street you would need to enter 123 on one line, Easy on another line, Street on the scroll down menu and West on the next line. You will then get a number of little bitty globe icons that you can click on (or one) to show the area and stats for the last 6 months. If nothing comes up, try searching without the house number, directional indicator or with the box underneath either checked or unchecked.
I have found this to be tremendously helpful and informative!
Good luck!

You can go to http://www.nsopr.gov
You can pick a state and a zip code and it will give you a list of sexual predators with their picture.
Hope this helps.

Here is the one for the sex offenders: offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/ You can search as close as a mile from your address.
I don't know how these lists are broken down, but they are from the fdle (Florida Dept of Law Enforcement) site: http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/Crime_Statistics/
Hope this helps.
Try the Charlotte County Sherriff's office website.WWW.CCSO.org. It will probably have some of the info you're looking for. If you're in Sarasota County, try their site.
Good luck!
www.myflorida.com will tell you all about the sex offenders. Names address picture
I used this website and it lists a lot of info you might be interested in knowing about your new area. Hope this helps! A.
florida department of law enforcement has a web site for predators. Lists current addresses and has current pictures you can show your kids and warn them about. Also drive them by the houses and show them pictures to warn them away. Should be able to access crime rates on same site in different area.
If you are in Florida you can go to http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/homepage.do;jse...# to find sex offenders in a certian area.
First off it's great that you're thinking about these things because so many people don't. You'll need the address or cross street, but as long as it's in Duval you can call the Jax Sheriffs Office at ###-###-#### and ask what kind of calls were made to a specific address or area...in most cases they can go back as far as 3 years. All calls made to 911 are public information. My husband happens to work for JSO and we always check the places we are considering moving to. I wouldn't focus on break-ins as much as higher priority calls, such as homicides and assaults. Good luck and I hope you find a safe place :)
