Diva Cup/Soft Cup?

My periods have finally become regular again. They are fairly light - in between a regular tampon or a light pad. I made the mistake of buying scented tampons today - ugh...but I came across the Softcup option. If I understand correctly, Softcups are a disposable type of the Diva cup? I like the Diva cup option as a more environmentally friendly product and it sounds like something to consider - are they about $30? How long do they last? Or, it the Softcup more comfortable/economic?
Thanks!

I have had my diva cup for years now...maybe 3 or 4 cant remember now. No issues with it yet...only reason I will replace is if it falls in the toilet or if it becomes less stiff...but no signs of it doing that yet.

if you do the diva cup or any other for that matter remember that it takes time even myself as a person who has used for years after my last one I had some adjusting to get it in correct so it wouldn't leak...take some trial and error.

I use something called "the keeper." I think they also make the mooncup (One is silocone, the other rubber?). I hear the Diva is slightly more comfortable. The keeper is very comfortable as long as you get it in right, if you don't get it far enough back, the little stem can be annoying.

It holds my heaviest days from the time I get up until I get back from work (about 10 hours). On a slightly lighter day I can make it all day if required (although I still prefer to empty when I get back.) I don't remember exactly how much it costs, but it last 10 years! I recently replaced it (I'm now on my second), and expect it to last until menopause.

I tried one of the disposables once. It was awful.

I have used the Keeper, until the latex started bothering me. I keep meaning to get myself a diva, but haven't. Maybe this will motivate me :-)

Anyway, I found the keeper very comfortable, though some cycles I couldn't wear it the first day. I find that when my cramps are very severe, I'm just too uncomfortable to get it in right, and so it then adds to the discomfort. But, most of the time I don't have severe cramps and once it was in I didn't even feel it. My cycles tend not to be too heavy, so I could probably go with emptying it twice a day, but I always did more often than that just because.

I believe that they last about 10 years.

I tried Softcup, they are completely different from the Diva - the fit, insertion/removal, just very different. I did not like the Softcup, they leaked, were a pain to remove, very messy, and I could feel them. I didn't even make it through one cycle with them because I disliked them so much.

I have a Mooncup (different brand of Diva) and love it. I've had mine for about 4 years, so I should probably replace it but it still works fine; I just make sure to sterilize it with vinegar & peroxide after every use.

I can't feel the Mooncup at all when I wear it, very comfortable and easy to insert/remove once you get the hang of it. Not messy at all once you get comfortable with them, usually takes a cycle or two.

ETA - very, very easy to clean. I have a medium cycle and empty twice a day; in the morning and at night. Mornings I do it in the shower, so just rince, wash with soap, rinse again, and reinsert. At night I use the 1/2 bath so the sink is right there; empty into toilet, wash & rinse, reinsert. At the end of the cycle you wash it good then put it in a cup 1/2 vinegar 1/2 peroxide and leave it overnight. That's it!

I haven't used the softcup, but I replace my diva anually. Just because. However, if I remember, they can last up to two years.

I'm curious to see some answers.

My daughter's stepmom is all about the Diva cup and my ex told me that when our daughter does start her period that their plan is for her to use this. I have one issue with this....... Who's going to CLEAN IT? My daughter may only be 8 right now, but in my family [and I'm seeing possible signs now] not one of us was over 10yrs old when we started!!! And I know my daughter isn't the greatest as far as cleanliness [for several things] unless I help her or hover over her. So, ew.

Anywho, sorry no help, but I'm curious to the responses as well.

Diva Cups, as well as other menstrual cups, can last up to 10 years! Definitely environmentally friendly. There are also cloth panty liners and pads that are amazing and good for the environment. Another plus with the Diva Cup, you can leave it in for 12 hours, even with heavy bleeding. Super cool! I can't believe I went so many years using wasteful (and potentially dangerous) tampons!
