Hi moms,
I have learned of the Diva Cup recently and just wondered if anyone has tried it and what you thought? The person I learned about it from referred me to a "green" baby mom store and the checkout lady said she personally uses it and has for a couple years now and loves it.
Thanks in advance.
I've been using a product that is similar - Instead Soft Cup - for the past 12 years and love it. I won't go back to tampons.
It's a little different but thought I would mention it as another alternative to tampons/pads. I buy it at Walmart, Walgreens, Target...
I too just learned of it recently. I bought one immediately. I've used it for two cycles already and I will never go back. It took a bit of getting used to but I love it. I wish I found it 30 years ago. It comes out easiest if you grab it with a tissue. Don't hesitate, buy one now. I even bought one for my 12 year old daughter. I know it will be a while before she uses it but I want it here for her for when she's ready.

I've never used one, but I have been thinking about getting one for swimming time. I'm not a tampon person (I hate them and only use them when swimming). I do use gladrags, or reusable pads and I love them. Many of my period symptoms have gone away without all the crappy chemicals, they're cheap (but only in the long run), more comfortable, and I feel good about using them. One day I will go this way with my daughters. When I was researching the cups, I found this site, and I thought it might help, as I hear there is a bit of a learning curve... http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/453392.html
I hope you like em if you try em!

I LOVE the Diva cup. I've used it for about six months now and its so easy to use once you get the hang of it. It doesnt leak like a tampon. You save money by not having to buy pads/tampons. Its better for the environment. I bought mine online, at a drugstore website. It was only $12 with free shipping. I can't imagine using anything else now!
Edit, a couple of people have asked me where I bought mine. Go to www.southcoastshopping.com. Free shipping too.

I will admit this is the first I had heard of this....looks awfully risky to me...with my luck it would "tip" and I would have a MESS on my hands at a most inconvenient moment...lol.

I like my diva cup. You don't have to worry about leaks if it's in right & you change it less than a tampon. You need to be next to a sink when changing it, but it's not too much messier than a tampon. Saves money after about 6 months (mine was 32.50 at Cotton Babies). I would definitely recommend everyone try it & don't give up.

I bought one, and I didn't like it. I couldn't get it in comfortably, and then it was difficult to remove.

I love the idea of it, and tried it recently. However, it was so hard to insert! I don't know what I was doing wrong, but it was just a mess, so I gave up.

Never used it and only saw an advertisement when I was visiting London a couple years ago for something similar...the "moon cup". I actually took a picture of the advertisement in the bathroom...I thought it was hilarious. I don't know...sounds pretty gross to me! Personally, I want that stuff OUT of me, not hanging out in a cup inside! They say you can use it for swimming and all activities, but I can't seem to get the picture of my head of a "shark attack" movie, where someone is swimming along...Diva cup leaking behind them...
Du dum...du dum...du dum...(Jaws!)
Good luck if you decide to try it...let us know how it goes. I'm curious!

My sister used one and really liked it! I like the idea that there are no chemicals inside me to absorb and no waste. I have not tried one yet though (no need due to nursing right now).

I saw these for the first time a few years ago and remembered chuckling and thinking it sounded pretty gross. I kept imagining only really hardcore environmentally-minded hippie types using them. I ran across an article for them again after I had my daughter last year and decided to give it a try after some research.
I LOVE IT!
It comes with a little pouch and I keep it in my purse so I have it if I need it unexpectedly. It's not that hard to insert, but it may take a few times before you have it down. We all had to learn how to use tampons though, right?
I feel cleaner when I'm using it and I don't have to worry about any leaks or running out of supplies. Yes, it is a little gross when you empty it, but if you've already dealt with a lifetime of tampons and pads, this isn't much different.
In short, I don't think I will ever go back to using anything else. I only wish I could tell more people about it without getting weird looks!
I got mine at Cotton Babies, but I have seen them online at several other sites. If you have any other questions, just let me know and I'll be happy to help!
