I take my daughter to Claire's in the mall. It is very clean and an older woman pierced her ears and it was quick and easy. Hope that helps! Have a great weekend.
My daughter is about to turn 13 and would like to have her ears pierced. I have no idea where to take her. The idea of some purple haired, tatooed, nose ringed 18 year old doing this in the mall doesn't sit well with this mama. Help! Does anyone know of a respectable place to get her ears pierced that is familiar with concepts such as serilization? We live in Denton, but I'm willing to travel. Yes...I know...I'm a dinosaur.

My 10 year old grandaughter just got her ears pierced at Libby Lu at Vista Ridge Mall. She has not had any problems. I think Claire's still does piercing, too - also Sweet and Sassy. Good luck.
I just took my 5 year old to a place called Libby Liu in the Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville. The store is very nice, cute, and girly. The ladies there were amazing and looked proffesional. They did an amazing job. They also had a good selection of earrings to chose from.
I had mine pierced at Claire's and the older sales person in the store did mine, not the young cashier person.
I had mine pierced when I was 13 (many years ago). But I didn't take care of them and they closed. So a few years ago on a trip down to San Marcos with our Girl Scout troop I had my ears re-pierced at Claires while the group of 12 year old scouts watched. They were thrilled. It was very hygenic.
If you don't want to go to any of the places mentioned, you can have your doctor do it.... most of them will pierce ears. I asked about it when my daughter wanted hers done, but since my experience went so well at Claire's we chose the same for her.
You might want to try Sweet and Sassy. My daughters want to get theirs done and my pediatrian does not do them so we are planning to go there.
L.,
I haven't been to the Mall in ages. Does Claire's still do that? At one point Wal-Mart used to. As you can tell I don't have a daughter so I am not sure where to go either. I had mine done the old fashion way...ice on ears until they were numb, then a needle through the ear into a potato, to help pull it the rest of the way through. I don't think I was of much help...sorry.

Hahaha, that's funny! I was actually told by one of those "people" that using the gun that the mall uses is actually harmful and hurts worse, because they are just ripping through the skin. Most of the tattoo places use a needle, which is where I got my ear cartilage and belly button pierced a whiiiiile ago. Most tattoo places are extremely clean but I understand your concern. Sometimes salons do piercing and plastic surgeons do them, probably a family doctor would too. Good luck.
I used Sweet and Sassy for my 2 girls. They did a great job and did both ears at the same time. Just to let you know that the earing they use are alittle difficult to take off after they have been in their ears for 6 weeks. I had a hard time pulling the back peice off of the earing post. But other than that, they had no problems with their ears as far as infection. I did wash their lobes off with betadine soap before right before and also gave them some tylenol prior to getting it done. Good luck.
I, too, am not that excited about tattoos and piercings, but suprisingly, a tattoo shop may be the most sterile place to go, as they are regulated by the state, unlike Claire's and other places like that.
Merle Norman cosmetic store did my daughters. Call ahead to ask if they have 2 guns that way 2 ladies can do it at the same time. We've also had it done at Claire's by the manager (she was a mom herself).
If you are really concerned, my pediactrics office does ear piercings.
We used Claire's and called ahead to make sure they had two people working so you can do both ears simultaneously. They did a wonderful job! We went to the Claire's in Southlake Town Square. I've heard great things about Sweet n Sassy too!
