Hello all, my son who is now 4 yrs old has always been a "sweater". I have asked the dr several times over the past 4 yrs if I should be concerned, and they tell me "no". I am just wondering if anyone else has a child who sweats badly, when he is playing he sweats so much his hair will be wet all over and sometimes at night he will leave a wet spot on the pillow. I sweat at night too and my husband tends to keep the house on the warmer side against my advice but my son sweats like this everwhere not just at our house. Should I be concerned?

My 6 year old son is a sweater too. I always keep his hair very short for this reason. His is also big for his age. His doctor mentioned at age 4 that these two combos could be a sign of an over active thyroid. We had him tested and he is fine. So his sweating is normal. Your sons sweating is probably normal too, but you might want to bring up the thyroid possibility to his doc and have him tested.

My daughter (5 1/2) used to sweat alot too. Our Doctor suggested cutting back on water and replacing one drink (8oz) every other day with an oral electroylite. That way she didn't become dehydrated with the sweating and it actually slowed down to during ACTIVE play and HOT days. Please ask your pediatrician if this would be safe for your son. I too perfer a cooler house at night we set at (68) and we bought dad his own "extra" blanket. Hope this helps

My 4 yr old daughter is like that .. I can never cover her up at night or she'll get very sweaty!. Then when she plays outside and its hot, she turns RED ...very red and her hair surrounding her face is soaking wet. Even tho doc says some kids are just like this, I try to make her take a break to cool down/hydrate and drink some ice water .. It also happens when she plays crazy inside. It just especially worries me when its a hot day outside, she looks like shes having a dammm heat stroke! I hate it !

Hi D., I have a 5 yr. old son who has the same sweating issue as your son. My little guy has always been a sweaty one, I have two older boys who were never like this. I also asked the Dr. and was told not to worry. Inside or outside he will get playing and his hair will be soaked. I worried when he started preschool, didn't want him to be teased, the teachers just say he is a healthly little guy who works up quite a sweat.. So I guess I am just saying your not alone and either is your son so don't be overly concerned. Enjoy them they grow to fast.

My nephew was the same way and the doctors said the same as well. I would not worry. Maybe just make sure he gets a lot to drink during the day.

My boy has been "Mama's Heater" since he was born. When he's feverish, it's not uncommon for him to go to 104 for a minor illness - he's a real burner. He sweats excessively at night and when playing.....absolutely normal. Last night he said he was feeling "hotter than the son" after running around in the school gym. He sat for awhile, had some fluids and felt better.
