Hair Straightening - Buffalo,MN

My hair is wavy, not curly. The problem is that it isn't a consistent texture throughout my whole head, it is very wavy in some areas and kind of straight in others. I hate it, always have! I want to get it smoothed out, straightened or something. Do any of you have any recommendations for what I should do or have you had a procedure done that you swear by?

What can I do next?

My hair is the same, but mine is since having kids. Depends how much money you are willing to spend. You can do the Keratin straightening treatment which is awesome, but about $250-300 and lasts about 6 months. I did that and loved it, but can't afford to continue. Now I use a brush to blow it out or use a straightening iron.

Have you tried using a flat iron straightner?

I have wavy hair. If I want to wear it straight, I blow dry it in sections starting from the bottom with a very large barrel brush. I had put off buying one for so long, and always used smaller ones, but it really does the trick. I didn't spend a ton on it either, 9.99 at Walmart. (hot round, static free brush) I've also had luck with a flat iron but I actually think my hair looks better after straightening it with the brush and hair dryer. If there is any moisture in the air, that can cause frizz, I use a great product called Moroccan Oil. I just add a little bit to my damp hair before drying.

I just did a Brazilian Blow Out. A lady I babysit for (full time) is a hair dresser so she did it for Christmas for me. I am pretty sure they are kind of expensive normally.

My hair is wavy, but not pretty wavy. It doesn't fall nicely and so I would have to spend over an hour flat ironing it to get it straight. My hair is also SUPER THICK and right now it's down slightly past my shoulder blades.

She did the BBO on December 9, it took about 2 hours with wash/cut/dry/iron everything and it lasts about 12 weeks. Now I just use Bed Head straighten up shampoo and conditioner and blow dry and my hair is awesomely straight and I LOVE it!

no chemical treatments, just use a heat protectant and a straightener.

Brazilian Blowout! I have thick, curly hair and it would take an hour or more to blow dry and flat iron to straighten it. With BB, ten minutes tops. I can even air dry when the BB is "new"and it looks great. And the shine is fabulous! They can be pricy, but I see Groupons for them all the time.

Don't believe all the hype about it being dangerous. My hairdresser says it's more dangerous to her than the client and that you are exposed to more dangerous fumes when you fill up your car.

I would skip a Brazilian Blow Out. A lot in the news lately about the toxic chemicals used.

Safest route would be to use a hair straightening iron. I have curly thick hair and it does wonders. Combine it with a shine adding/straightening hair product and you're set.

Check out the following:

http://brazilianblowout.com/ (controversial because of the chemicals used, but women who do it love the long lasting results)

http://www.sallybeauty.com/keratin-smoothing-treatment/IO... (very popular among those too afraid to do the Brazilian blowout. Research very carefully before doing this at home. Probably better to go to a salon for this)

Or you could use this:

A good flat iron is another option. See:

Be sure to use protectants if you use the irons.

The long forgotten, tried and true hood dryer and curlers method is still the best way to straighten hair yet get lasting body. You can get salon quality dryers for home use if you don't want to go to a salon.

a friend of mine has very curly hair (like Beyonce or Rihanna curly), but she just recently purchased a chi flat iron (pronounced as chee). Her hair is SO straight and glossy now. It is unbelievable with how curly her hair is naturally. She also says it cuts her styling time in half. She used to only straighten her hair on special occasions when she had time to do it, but now she straightens it about every day. A chi flat iron costs about $100, but will last much longer than a Brazilian or Keratin treatment will. You can get them on Amazon and Sally's Beauty Supply carries them too I think.

I have naturally straight hair, thanks to my Native American heritage and love it. I wear it all 1 length and straight.

I did, however, try the CHI Enviro treatment (no chemicals) my hair dresser offered for a more sleek, straight look. I paid about $150 ( special... Normally higher). She washed my hair with the special shampoo, leg it sit a few minutes, rinsed out. Then applied the product ( brushes on, covers each strand). Waited a few minutes. Dried my hair then flat ironed all of it. You can't wear a clip or band for about a week. Use the CHI system shampoo, conditioner and mask ( included with the $150)

I did this in October and my hair is still so soft and healthy. The conditioning is great. Like I said, I don't use a flat iron. I let my hair air dry while I dress, make up, etc and my dry time is less than 5 minutes and just run my brush through it.

The CHI flat irons are great but please do not use that daily. You'll ruin your hair.

Good luck!!

Go over to Ulta and talk to them about their Keritin Straightening. They have one that lasts 4 - 6 months. It is great. And no bad chemicals like that Brazilian Blowout.

Your hairs like mine. Mine is also very thick!!

No matter how careful I am blow drying mine or in how small strips my hair still frizzes.

After washing my hair, I use a straightening/ anti frizz spritz, let my hair air dry then straighten it with a flat iron. I bought it at wal mart for under $20. My irons usually last 2-3 years. It usually takes me atleast 40/45 mins to do ( my hair is about 4/5 inches past my shoulders) .... that's why I don't do my hair that often and its usually in a bun or braid :s

My hair used to be like yours and I hated it. It was wavy on top and little pin curls around the nape of my neck. What the heck, right?

Then I found with the right products and diffusing when I dried my hair it is actually curly. Who knew. :)

Your hair sounds similar to mine. I'm wavy on top & curly underneath, but really thick all over. I use Moroccan Oil after towel-drying, the blow it dry upside down while just finger separating & then hit it in sections with the flat iron. I do this every other day & I don't wash it at all on the in between day. Takes me about 20-ish minutes & mine stays straight & soft & shiny until it gets wet again.
