Our house was build in 70s 2 story. The room right by the front door has no overhead light. We have 2 more formal couches in carmel colors, lots of light oak trim, burgandy drapes a decorative haha piano and we need a floor lamp. But I can't figure out what would look nice. They all seem super chome modern space shippy. I need it reasonably priced. I have looked in decorating mags but only see table lamps. Any one w some time want to help me find some links?? Or recommed a store??

What can I do next?

We bought a cheap floor lamp at lowes or Home Depot. We spent months looking online, at lamp stores, etc. and one day we were walking through a big box home improvement store and there was our lamp. It was 80 bucks. And we were happy.

Target, Home Depot or Bed Bath and Beyond (bought a set of three classic wrought iron simple lamps, including a floor lamp at BB & B) set was $70.00.

Have you tried to Google "overstock lamps"? Overstock.com has some very nice lamps...here's the link directly to floor lamps page:

I've had good luck ordering with them and they have quite a variety.
It also depends on what sort of look you are trying to go for. For us, we are more of an 'antiquey' family so we buy our floor lamps at a favorite lower-priced antique shop. You might want something more on the contemporary side, so try the website first, you might want to do some window-shopping, see what sorts of stores window-dress in a way which is attractive to you, and go take a peek inside.

Target has lots of great floor lamps. We have one similar to this and we love it:

We've used it in different rooms and it always blends in nicely, very neutral.
Home Depot & Lowes are also great places to look, especially Lowes!
