I never use stamps cause I pay all my bills on line so the stamps I have are who know's how old and I have to send some thank you cards. They don't say on them how many cents they are. It is the Liberty Bell and says 2007. Does anyone know whether I need a 1 cent stamp with this as well? I can't remember but I thought stamps went up sometime but I don't want to be foolish and put these 1 cent stamps on these letters if I don't have to. Thanks

Just wanted to add that it does say forever on it.

What can I do next?

Yes, it's a forever stamp. You can use those no matter how much the price of mailing letters costs. No need to add any additional postage for a 1st class letter.

Those are the Forever stamps. They are worth whatever the going rate is. Right now it is 42 cents. If you were to buy a bunch of those before the next price increase, they would be worth the new amount. (i.e. They are just right all the time.)

As people said they are good anytime. Also a tip for you since you are like me and don't use stamps often -- Always buy these forever stamps. They continue to be available and they are the only ones I buy just in case some don't get used before the postage invevitably changes next year.

I went to the post office the other day and asked the postmaster about the different stamps that didn't have an amount on them. I am 99% sure she said that only the Liberty Bell stamp is good no matter how much stamps have gone up. You could call your post office to be positive however. I had some that had flags with nothing written on it, and the postmaster said that they were 41 cents and needs a one cent stamp. I had already mailed them though, and they went through fine.

Stephanie,

The stamps you have you can use as full value. Last year they sold the liberty bell stamps when the stamps went up to 41 cents but advertised that if you bought the bell stamps, they would be good for ever no matter when you used them.
I also just pay my bills online but I work in an office and purchase the supplies, I do remember this well.

Stephanie,
If the stamps have "forever" on them, the make-up 1 cent stamp is not needed.

YOu might want to look on line or ask at the post office on Monday but I'm pretty sure what you have there is the "forever" stamp. It will always be the proper postage no matter how much the cost to send a letter goes up. It will just cost you more to BUY the stamp.

If it is a 'forever' stamp, it should say 'forever' along the edge of the pic.

You are in luck. No need for a 1 cent stamp, as "forever" stamps are just that, meant to be used forever at whatever the current postage fee is for mailing a letter.

Hi Stephanie - I asked at the post office when the 1 cent increase went into effect. You do not have to add postage to these stamps - they are good for first class letter forever! Good to know next time rates go up - stock up before it goes up!

Stamps have gone up several times since 07 but I think if they don't have the amount on them they are the "forever stamps" so you wouldn't need any additional postage, not positive though.

These are forever stamps. The post office did ask us to stock up on them, so we should never have to add to them. Any other stamps you will need additional. Trust all will go well.

It sounds like you have some "forever stamps" like the previous poster said. I would call the post office or stop by one while you are out running errands and show them what you have.

If it says forever on it then it is the forever stamp which means that they change price to what is current without you having to buy more stamps. However if you feel uncertain ask your mail man/women they should be able to confirm it.

I'm going to reiterate what many others have already said: the stamps you appear to have are Forever stamps. The USPS introduced those stamps over a year ago when postage continued to increase. So no matter when you bought them and no matter what they cost when you bought them, they are still good. You don't need the extra one cent stamps to use them.

If you're not sure, go to www.usps.com. You can find all of the information about postage with the click of a mouse.

You've probably already gotten a response but Forever stamps are good forever - i.e. go up in value if prices are ever raised.

Forever stamps are just that - they will work as first class stamps forever, providing the letters aren't so heavy that they require extra postage. There is no need for the extra 1-cent stamp.

Hi Stephanie,

The nice thing about Forever stamps means you can use them forever. You don't need to any one stamps to them. When you buy forever stamps - it costs what the current stamp price is. But you can use them no mater how much the postage goes up. Hope that helps! (It does get so confusing, esp. if you don't mail much. Postage prices go up way to frequently.)
