The chicco Polly is the best seat ever. It has 7 height adjustments and three recline adjustments. I love this seat.
Can anyone recommend a good highchair to buy? We will be starting our daughter on food soon.
Thanks,
Y.

i love my peg-perego. the seat can lean back and it has the tray on tray feature. the seating is cloth so it can be put in the washing machine and they don't get so sweaty compared to rhe plastic ones.
Hi Y.,
The only two things I'd say are a must is a removable tray (a smaller one that fits in the larger one) that can go in the dishwasher. And make sure the seat part is vinyl NOT FABRIC for easier washing. You won't believe where the food will go! Happy eating!
A friend recommended the Ikea highchair to us when we needed them for our twin boys. They're super easy to clean, easily portable (the legs come off easily) and don't take up too much space. It doesn't have any cushions or recline positions but I'm not sure why you need recline for a feeding chair? My boys (now 22mos) have seemed to find them perfectly comfortable and they've used them from about 6mos. Plus at $25 you can't argue with the price.
I find the simplest ones are the best. I don't have one in particular to recommend but I had one for my first daughter that was a nightmare. It didn't have different reclining positions and really was not suitable for a child just learning to sit up. I would look for one with multiple reclining positions, removable tray (an EASY to remove tray)and multiple height adjustments. And soemthing easy to clean. I had another with a cloth seat - and again - a NIGHTMARE!
I'm with Kathleen. I have both the Chicco Polly highchair and the Fisher Price space-saver chair. Both are fantastic, but I have to say I use the Fisher Price far more often than the Chicco. The tray on the Fisher Price is super easy to clean (as is the chair for messy meals), and my little guy loves being close to the table when we're eating together. The Chicco was nice when he was smaller and just learning to eat, but now I use the Fisher Price probably 90% of the time.
I have two recommendations:
1st: the Fisher-Price Space Saver Highchairhttp://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=250800...
This highchair is my favorite - I bring it with me whenever I travel or go to dinner at a friends house. I keep it in my dining room so my son can sit at the table with us in there. I keep my big highchair in the kitchen but if I had not bought my full size highchair first I would have only bought this one. In fact I have friends that after getting this one got rid of their full size highchairs.
If you want the full size highchair I highly recommend the Chicco Polly Highchair http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=226574...
I absolutely love this one too. I keep this one in my kitchen. I have nothing bad to say about it. The tray pulls in tight to my son to avoid food falling into his lap, the seat is adjustable in so many ways - reclines, foot peice moves with the child and my favorite part is that you can lower the chair to push it up to your table so your child can eat with you when they are older.
Good luck in your search!
Fisher Price Healthy Care Aquarium HIgh Chair - I don't know if it's still available, but it's almost perfect (there's probably a more recent version).
The stolke trip trapp is a wonderful purchase. A little pricy at the onset, but something you can use long-term. It is all-wood, so durable and easy to clean. Also good for posture and muscle strength. If the child can not independently sit up, they probably are not ready for solids. We have 3 - one for each child. They started using them at 4-6 months and are still in them (8 yo, 6 yo, and 3 yo) because you simply adjust the foot rest and seat height. Obviously they no longer use belts and such. You will understand what I mean if you look at the website. High quality, can't tip over, easy to clean, long-lasting, ergonomically correct. Even our PT in early intervention (for child #3) was pleased to see we had one as that is what they recommend for children with feeding/muscle strength issues.
I also have "Chicco Polly" and took me months of research to finally decide on it. It is super easy to clean (I defiantly didn’t like the cloth once …. there were a BIG No-No to me), it is very comfortable for the kid (the vinyl surface is not sticky, cold or hard like some other once no cloth high-chairs that I have seen), it has variety of adjustments (7 height positions and 3 reclines), the tray is also easily removed with one hand (that was important to me) and comes with two dishwasher safe, lift-off inserts for easy clean-up and serving, also has a 5 point safety harness with shoulder pads and 4 wheels with brakes, it takes little space when folded and it is perfect when the kids grow up (I think it supports about 100lb).
The only thing that I would say I don't like about this chair are the legs, if you have one of those pedestal dining tables then you might be better off to stay away from this highchair b/c it is hard to pull it up to close to the table.
I hope I helped a little …..
We have the fisher price rain forest one and my daughter loves it! it came with a toy that snaps on to the tray wich she loved when she was smaller but at 2 1/2 she has lost intrest in. It also reclines and is easy to wash.
