I just had this in August and just do not try and lift anything more than 10 pounds for the six or eight weeks that they say. I was tired for about a week but I could move no problem. I do know someone who lifted stuff early and had to have her's redone so just be carefull on the lifting.

You'll be fine-they say that (2 wks) but the recovery is much easier than you think. I had this done at age 38 in conjuction with a hysterectomy-my bladder had pretty marched out of my body after baby #6! Good luck!

I need this surgery for my bladder & 2 other surgies after having kids. I however opted to wait till my last she is going on 2 is a little older & there is no school. I knew I needed to have this surgery for a while now I will have some help but will not call anyone to help me.I will let things go for my own good, plan ahead with meals. My husband will not be here to help me at all when it is Mon.-Fri. he has & will not call in sick I wish I could call in sick the life of a SAHM.Anyway all I can tell you is plan ahead as much as possible get everything taken care that you will need for the few weeks. You didn't mention how old your kiddos are but if they are able to assist you in anyway ask them they will be HAPPY to of helped their mama.
I second that from Sandra my mom went down the stairs to fast she thought she was ok wrong she now needs to repeat her surgery that was over 3 yrs ago & still won't do it.

I am having it too. How old are the children? Is there someone who would be able to help? My doctor told me I would not need it as my child is 10 and not requiring me to lift her. My surgery is not till May so please post about your experience. I am getting the pig one.

I think that if he is home for the first 9 of 14 days, you should be fine. Ask your doc just to be sure and make you feel better. Have your husband do a rough cleaning right before he leaves and to make sure all laundry is done. Make arrangements for your children to have rides to and from school. Start cooking double meals now and freeze one of them. Your husband can cook and feed the kids while he is there but then you break out the frozen meals once he is gone. If you can afford to have someone come in and clean you can do that but I think your husband can keep it 'in order' until you are better. It is not important that your house is clean. As long as laundry is caught up, cooking is done, and kids are good you can rest. If your kids are young and not in school, you rent movies and let them watch and color, play playdough, do puzzles, etc you tell them mommy doesn't feel good and you will just be laying on the couch while they play. Maybe some friends could even help cook you dinner or take the kids for a playdate one of those days when your husband leaves so you can rest. Most surgeries though only are the worst after the first week so 9 days should really be helpful. Good luck! W.

B.....Are you sure that bladder sling surgery is necessary? Has your Dr. talked with you about a pessary? Surgery would be the last resort, especially at your young age. Have you researched the longevity of the bladder sling approach? A second opinion is recommended and investigating the pessary and other non-invasive resolutions would give you other options to consider; thereby potentially taking care of the dilema you report above.
