I am looking for a support for victims of a violent crime. A friend of mine son was killed in October of 2007 and 6 months later I can still see the hurt in her eyes. I think a support group with other women who have been though the same thing might help her.

Hi Denise,
A great source would be Compassionate Friends. This is a group of parents that have lost a child and siblings also.
A support group would be very helpful AND what is even more helpful is helping in the community with a similar type of problem (for lack of better words). For example, if he was killed by gangs, then going out and speaking to schools about the dangers of entering gangs. Or writing the councilman about more gang police, or helping a child who is trying to get out of gangs. Telling this mother that there was a reason for what happened, maybe it being that she can change laws, and others' lives....by prevention or intervention. Take care.
I also recommend the Compassionate Friends. They have meetings all over the US and you can find them online at:
