In Search of TINY Snow Boots (Size 3 or 4)

I just read another post requesting information on good snow boots for toddlers. I followed the leads mentioned, but couldn't find any boots smaller than a size 5. I have a very active 11 month old who has been walking since she was 8 months old. She is surprisingly stable on her feet and loves to be outside, but she wears a size 3 shoe. I was hoping to find a good, warm, waterproof boot for her so we can enjoy some fun in the snow this winter. Has anyone found a tiny snow boot? Or have any suggestions for keeping my little girl's feet warm and dry? Thank you!

What can I do next?

Hi D.-
I tried every product imaginable and nothing worked. I finally brought my car to a service place to have the windows tinted. It wasn't expensive and its made a great difference.
Hope this helps-

Buy the size five and double up on heavy socks. She
will only be out for a short time. Even if they are a little big, its OK. I assume she will not be wearing
them all day.

Good luck.

Try walmart. I was there yesterday and they had some. They aren't in the shoe section for older kids but in the baby section.

I had the same issue with my duaghter who is now just about 3. She was walking well by 11 months and needed snow boots that winter, but was and still is tiny. I noticed the responses from others, but all of those places that had tiny snow boots, were warm, but did not have good soles for walking (they don't expect babies that young/small to be walking in the snow!). I searched high and low and finally found a pair at Babies'R'Us, (NIKE brand). They were great because they were not that bulky and easy for her to walk in. Good Luck!!

I had really good luck, last winter, at Target - they have itty bitty boots at VERY reasonable prices.

My twins were just barely 1 last winter and I had the same problem. I ended up buying size 5 just so we could go out. The girls wore tights and socks and then I stuffed the snow gator part of the snowpants down inside. This did the job to keep the boots on, but walking was not really and option (they were just beginners). Ridesin the stroller and on the sled were perfect. Good luck!

I found this website http://www.preschoolians.com that has really cute shoes and boots. They have a sizing device that they will mail to your home for free so that you can be sure you buy the right size. They have different support levels in their shoes too- from crawling, pulling up and walking, to running. The shoes come with 3 different shoes liner widths so you can customize it if you child has wide feet. They also have a clear window in the bottom of the shoe so you can see how far up your child's toes go in the shoe so you know when to get new ones. I saw some really cute styles on there. I have not ordered yet but plan to do it soon. I have a friend who loves them for her daughter. I got the measuring device in the mail and their shoes sizes are a little different. They start at size 16, which is like a baby size 2 and go up to size 32, which is like a kids size 2.

Try Stride Rite - they are expensive, but imo, nothing better for a childs foot!

Best wishes...wow! walking at 8 months...that's young!! She'll keep you on your toes, mama!!

I actually just bought a pair of size three boots at Payless. They seem insulated and waterproof, but are not the same as the faux fur lined boots you can find in bigger sizes. Still, they are the best I've found in small sizes and I've searched many stores. They are brown leather with rubber bottoms and cute flowers on the side.

If you don't mind spending a little extra money, try Jack and Janie or other higher-end kids stores, 3's were the hardest for me to find but those stores seemed to have them. Thankfully mine is now in a 4 and someone gave her a very nice pair of boots from Jack and Janie that fit great.

Gap has cute girls' snowboots in sizes 3 & 4 for about $30 - not sure if that's more than you'd like to spend, though.

Best~

I swear by Stride Rite. Kinda pricey but high quality. They carry the size you need and your child's feet are so important. Skimp on clothes but not on good shoes.

Hi Mama,

We went through the same battle. Our daughter's first walking winter she wore a size 3. We spend on average 8 - 10 hours outside a day (farming). Since it's rarely above freezing here from Dec-April we needed something decent. We found much the same as your finding. We didn't want to spend a lot since the boots were going to be playing around in manure so we settled for size 5 of a cheaper boot that could be replaced if needed. She did amazingly well. The only problem we found with them was that she needed help to stand back up when she sat down. As far as running, climbing, etc she was A-okay.

Good luck to you!

Kate

I just found one pair of new snow boots (true snow boots) on ebay for 99 cents in size 3. Search snow boots 3 and then click on infant toddler on the left. They are made by The Children's Place. Then I went online and TCP had different ones starting in size 4 for $28.50.
Good luck!
