I think unless you are working with lots of movies you will be ok. I keep my movies on my Mac iTunes and just put a few on my ipad when I want them. It's so rare I watch a movie anyway though. With the new iCloud it makes it very easy to transfer whatever you own on itunes to your mobile devices. Seems to me like you should be ok with 16 Gigs.

Movies are what fill up the space. I only just ran out of space on my 16gb iPad2 which I've owned for 1 year, and it was when I was trying to download a 3rd movie (already had 2 on there). I was easily able to delete some useless apps to get it to fit, but admittedly I was mildly annoyed. I only rent movies though, so they only stay on my iPad temporarily. If you were going to try to purchase movies, or rent multiple at one time (for me that's rare), then you'll need the larger space.

I have a 32 gig iPad 2 and I am happy that I went with that instead of the 16. I have a ton of apps, a few pictures, and about 100 songs on there and I am at 12 gigs. If I add any movies, I will hit those 16 gigs quick. I didn't get the 64 because I wasn't planning to have all of pictures, music, and movies on the iPad at the same time.

We have a 16g and it is fine for apps and pictures and such. I agree with the other posters just limit the movies and you will be ok. If you have Netflix you can access it on the iPad and you will have all the movies you need without the storage issue. We also use Air Video which lets us access our home computer from anywhere we have Internet access. So we just stream movies from our own computer and solve the space problem that way as well.

We love our iPads! There are some amazing apps out there for kiddos too!

If you already have some type of "smart pad", Amazon is running a special where you can trade it in and get credit for a new one, but it's only running through this weekend!
