With the shuttle being transported to Edwards Air force base I can't help but remember when my dad would take me and my brothers to Edwards to go watch the landings. It was amazing! Whats some of you favorite family memories?

What can I do next?

Catching scads of butterflies with my brother, when we spent a week in the summer at our Granny's house. He was about 7 and I think I was 5. We just stood out in the edge of the field behind the house (I think it was a pea patch or maybe green beans?) and there were the little light yellow butterflies and the big monarch looking ones (they aren't really monarchs, but they have similar colors and markings). We caught dozens....and stuck them in the waistbands of our pants to "hold" them while we caught more.
(yeah.... kinda cruel, looking back....but I still remember it. When we took our baths that night we had all these little yellow smudges on us where the powder came off of the butterfly wings).

Lightning bugs in coffee can, driving cross country in the summer, ice
skating at Rockefeller Center on Sunday mornings, ice cream sodas at
the soda fountain during the summer, watching the gorillas each vanilla
ice cream pops at Central Park Zoo! Organ lessons, watching wrestling
with my Dad late at night. So many more. My Dad believed in exposing
me and my sister to everything! We were very lucky. Great post. Missing
my Dad.

I remember being stationed at Edwards when the shuttle landed. The sonic boom scared me even though I knew it was coming. Shook my whole house lol

My dad was in the military so we were overseas for a few years. I loved all of our weekend/summer trips to Paris, Czech, Italy, etc. Going out to eat in Germany was a 2-4 hour affair and I remember bringing a book to read while the adults talked. Being outside a lot - outside markets, walks, etc.

As I've grown older and we moved to IL, my memories changed. My mom had another baby so my memories started involving her and not my brother (who moved away to college). My memories with my family were of us playing with my little sister, going out to eat and having game nights.

Now I have a much larger family because my hubby comes from a large family. We have great memories from our holidays together with them. And with my family of four, we enjoy movie nights, playing in the backyard and I hope to create many more memories!

We went swimming in the creek together. My dad reading Treasure Island to us. Taking the day off when the temperature got over 100 and swimming. My mother lighting the Christmas pudding. Bonfire nights with thermos sausages.
