Hi T..

We recently moved to Maple Grove and needed to change pediatricians for our 2 1/2 year old and now a newborn. Partners in Pediatrics had been highly recommended to us so we started going there. We have been seeing Dr. Howe but during our last visit with her (first check up with our newborn), she didn't really seem that engaged and don't think her personality fits with ours. I know she's a great doctor but are looking for someone who is a little more "emotional and involved". Just seemed like Dr. Howe was just sort of going through the motions. Would love to hear of another Dr at that clinic that people like. Any recommendations? Dr Howe is great but thought we would maybe see someone else next time we go. Just to be sure we made the right choice.

We go to the Brooklyn Park clinic, so I only know a couple Maple Grove docs from urgent care visits. I remember Dr. Kuperman seemed good, though, and that's who our friends see. The great thing about the newborn well baby visits is that you have a chance to see several people and see who is a good match for you.
My son sees Dr. Bach and really likes him. My daughter seemed a little shy around him so I switched her to Dr. Howe and she loves her. I like both doctors. Dr. Bach is rated one of the top docs of the cities.
We go to PIP in MG and the Dr that I am absolutely in LOVE with is Dr. Fischer! He is so wonderful with both of my children (has been seeing my 6 year old since he was 1 and my 21 month old since the week he was born). He is so loving and caring with the kids, always asking what they are up to, remembers their siblings names when they aren't present and asks about them. I even had my mom at one of the appointments and I think he spoke more to her than me - talked about the love of children and what a blessing they are in our lives. On top of all the true knowledge and affections he shows for his patients, he also shows a genuine interest in you, the parent and is willing to listen and advise on any questions questions/concerns you may have, not just medical. He is AWESOME and I'm so happy to have found him. His nurse Shelly is also a jewel - just great! Very fun, loves the kids and makes them feel at ease, even during shots.
There is only 1 drawback with Dr. Fisher - he is only part time and because he's so popular, getting an appointment with him is hard. I book mine 3 months in advance (as soon as the schedule for the month I need opens I'm calling to get my kids in). He does cover some of the Ready Care shifts during the week so you can sometimes get to see him that way in a pinch, but it's hard to see him on short notice.
Good luck with your search - a great Dr. for your kids gives you such piece of mind!
One other Dr. - Dr. Cantor we saw in the hospital, works out of the Brooklyn Park & Uptown offices and does some ready care at MG. I know it's not in MG, but wanted to mention him if either of those offices were an option as he was wonderful too!
I love Dr. Bach. He's personable but professional and very experienced. My 2 girls like him. I have seen Kupperman too and he's very good as well.
We have seen Dr. Howe since my 3 year old daughter was born. I think she is wonderful. At our last appointment however I would agree with you that she seemed a little detached. Maybe she is going through something personal. I would give her another chance, as her advice has always been excellent, and she relates well to children. If not, I would agree that Dr. Greg Savitt would be a good choice. He is warm and friendly, and has a pretty good sense of humor. I did not care for the male Dr. who specializes in sports medicine. Sorry, I can't remember his name.
