My friend and I play this game. We tell each other things that we know will never win us mom of the year awards. Hers the other day was she let the kids eat cupcakes for breakfast. Mine is that we have been having issues with my dog. She has gotten into the trash three times this week, stolen food from my daughter, and has played the come in - turn around and go out game. It's been very frustrating. Apparently, I called her "stupid dog" too many times. So yes, now my 2 and a half year old calls her Stupey Dog, and now when she is frustrated, stupey door, crayon, etc...sigh.... So what have you done that will never get you nominated for mom of the year?

It was Christmas Eve at Mom's house. My 2nd daughter was 2 weeks old. As we were leaving, we're loaded with armfuls of gifts for BOTH girls. We're calling out the "Bye! See ya next week! Love you!"...Struggling to open the door and get out. I get on the patio and WAIT! "My baby!" I walk back in and my Aunt is sitting in the Dining Room looking around like "What do I do?" holding my sleeping baby!

My excuse? She's NEW! I forgot I had her!

Bad Mommy!!!

One time I HAD to take a shower (it was getting insane!) so I put my daughter in her bouncy seat right outside the shower which, of course, made her cry. I gave her a paci but it kept falling out of her mouth and she'd scream...until I scotch taped one side to her cheek! I figured if she needed to spit it out she still could but it wouldn't fall out on it's own, plus it was only for 5 minutes while I took a quick shower :)

I made my son let his dad pull out his first tooth ever and then my son passed out from the trauma. Let me say though that the tooth was very ready to come out, I was scared he would aspirate it or something in his sleep and I had no idea it would lead to him passing out. Now I just let nature take its course and let them fall out all on their own without any assistance.

I have dropped all my children at some point in their infancy; my son was on the first day home from the hospital. I went to put him on the pak n play changing table and totally missed. Thankfully only landed on his bum and and I was more worked up over it then he was. My 2nd child we both fell down the stairs.. again thankfully no one hurt but moms ego and heart for letting it happen again. My 3rd - well she wiggled out of my arms while I was on the couch and down on the floor she went.

Oops... things happen and so far they are all just fine :)

Oh boy - there's not enough room! My kids are almost 12 and almost 14 - I've had plenty of really bad moments that i'm not proud of! I'd say the one I'm most famous for is when I was furious with my husband and I threw a hard plastic cup at him from the kitch into the living room. It missed him and bounced off my DD's head (she was about 12 I think) - caused a small bump - this was about 10 minutes before a big soccer game she had. Uggggghhhhh. We were dealing with big stress at that time (FIL, MIL and my mom all in the hospital with serious stuff, sibling dynamics relating to the parents illnesses, etc.) Still no excuse!

Sounds like you & your firend have good attitude though - humor covers alot of errors. The biggest thing I needed to learn is to listen to my child, really hear what he/she has to say, acknowledge their feelings as valid, ask for forgiveness, own up to stupidity on my part for times I've hurt them and give lots of hugs.

I pray often that God's gracw will cover my screw-ups! Thankfully we have a big God.

After a winter of non-stop rain, last weekend the kids were totally stir-crazy because they couldn't go outside and play, they were being horrible to each other, I was frustrated, and my 5 year old asked, "Mommy, is it true that when it rains, God is crying?" and I snapped back, "YES! He cries because you two won't stop fighting!"

Ugggggh... bad mommy!

When my son fell of the top off our backyard slide and broke his arm, I didn't take him to the doctor until the next day!
He said his wrist hurt so I gave him some motrin and an ice cream cone to help with pain and then he seemed ok - I thought maybe he just sprained his wrist or something. When it still hurt him the next morning, I took him to the Ped and they did an Xray and sure enough it was broke! One of the arm bones was cracked completely through!

Mine also involves a cupcake. My 2 1/2 year old was refusing to take naps--we were still rocking him to sleep, but the minute we put him in his crib he would start crying--I was getting so frustrated. His dad decided to reward him if he would lay quiet without crying. They decide the reward would be cupcakes, so they spent the afternoon baking cupcakes and talking about nap=cupcake (a picture was even drawn). Fast forward to the next day when I am trying to rock him down for his nap and it's just not happening, but I remind him about the cupcake and resting quietly (keep in mind this has been going on for about 2 weeks since my MIL decided to let him CIO at nap time (that's another story)). And, I had been rocking for about an hour. So, I put him in his crib and he started screaming and carrying on. And I was so upset I took him downstairs and fed his cupcake to the dog...in front on him! And, the worst part was the little guy didn't even make a peep--he just looked at me like, "my mom is nuts!" I still particularly blame my MIL--after her "helping" us get him to nap without rocking (which is something his dad and I both loved to do by the way, and which she assured us she would do if we left during the nap time) he never napped again :(....

I tell my kids that if they're naughty at the shops the Shopping Police will get them. Also the Bedtime Police if they keep getting out of bed. :(. To counter this Mom of the Year behaviour of mine I've had to explain that the Police will definitely help you if you're in trouble, and that they only take naughty people away. I am guilt-ridden, but I can't stop myself when I'm desperate!

These are absolutely hysterical!!! As one Mom mentioned: too many, probably, to name, as my kids are both in college now! However, two stand out in my memory: FIRST day of kindergarten for first child: slammed his little hand in the car door upon arrival at school! UGH! LAST day of elementary school for same child: like Lodi, short day, Wednesday, complete brain fart, was not at school to pick him up, they had to call me from the front office.......I was the one in tears! (JEEZ as if I hadn't just done this EVERYDAY for the past 6 years!!!!) Hahahahahaha! Mother of The Year!!!

Ah, those are the fun moments in life that do win us mother of the year award!! Cupcakes for breakfast - for real? YUM! LOL. I flip out too much - little things become the end of the world when I'm stressed...so I really try to not do that, but I am a fun mom and I know my kids have a great time more often than not :).
