Hi Shonda
i took my 11 yr old to Joel Leffler when she was a baby. He diagnosed her with nystagmus, but there isnt' anything you can do about that so we didn't need to see him anymore. i would recommend him though!

My 15-month old recently went in for his check-up and it was discovered that his vision test results were very poor. We are needing to take him to an ophthalmologist for additional tests. Our pedicatrician recommended two: Dr. David Stager, Jr. and Dr. Joel Leffler. I think they are both located at Medical Center of Plano. Has anyone ever had any experience with either one of these doctors? If so, can you give me any information/references about them, good or bad?
Thank you so much!

Hi Shonda. We've been seeing Dr. Stager Jr. for about 2 1/2 years and we love him!! He's great with kids and has an EXCELLENT reputation. I think he and his dad are the BEST in the Dallas area. Good luck.

I, too, did not have the most pleasant experience with Dr. Leffler. My daughter now goes to Dr. Priscilla M. Berry at
8201 Preston Road 140a Lb23, in Dallas. Unfortunately, I don't have her phone number on me right now. Dr. Leffler just didn't interract with my child the way I would have liked. Dr. Berry is bright, pleasant, cheery and my kids love her.
Hi Shonda,
Both Drs are VERY reputable and well thought of. Our office refers to them all of the time and we get good reports from both.

I took my lil' one to Leffler also.....he is very calm and patient. BUSY, but does great with the kids.

I work in ophthalmology and refer patients constantly. The Drs that we refer to are Dr. David Stager and Dr. Priscilla Berry. They are excellent. There is also a Dr. David Stager Sr. that is great but he only works a few days now. My child is one now and if had to go to one it would be Dr Stager Jr.
I didn't have the positive experience with Dr. Leffler that everyone else seems to have had. He did surgery on my son and it was horrible. He didn't even make sure that he had pain medicine afterwards and heard my baby screaming from the waiting room. I had to bust through the doors and nurses to get to him where I stood holding a screaming, writhing-in-pain, child in my arms who was bleeding from his eyes. Dr. Leffler acted like my son's pain was normal and didn't need to be treated. So, being the kind of mom I am and ALWAYS having tylenol on me, I started to give it to my son... well don't you know right then Dr. Leffler got pain meds orderd for my son and given to him before I got my tylenol syringe full so that they could charge their medicine on my bill. My pedi had recommended him too. But, we will NEVER go back.
If you do go see him, just be really cautious and don't let him make you feel like he's too busy.
Good luck,
R.
My 3 yr old sees Dr. Leffler for a slight astigmatism. We have been very pleased. He was highly recommended by our ped.
I would recommend trying to get the earliest appointment in the day. The wait gets long and the waiting room is crowded at the later appointments.
