Hi mommies, I am organizing my husband's birthday party in a public park in Los Angeles county. There are barbeque grills available to public in the park but all of them are located together in an open area under direct sunlight. I am wondering if it is allowed for us to bring our own b.b.q. charcoal grill to the park and use it in the area that we would like, i.e. table sitting in spacy concrete floor underneath tree shades. Is there a rule in a public park that we have to use only their grill? Thanks very much in advance for sharing your experience!

What can I do next?

I would say yes as long as you are careful and dont light the park on fire. :-) I have never heard of a rule saying you can't use your own stuff at the park, and just think, if it is a rule it would be posted somewhere in the park, such as dogs allowed while on a leash, or no dogs allowed, park hours, etc. You will be fine :-)

Definitely yes!!!!! is my first thought. I've used my own and seen many others use theirs in public parks. My second thought is that it's possible that some parks have different rules. I'd look up the rules on the Internet or call for info for Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. Usually if the park is within the city it's managed by the City. If it's outside all city limits it's managed by the county.

Usually they still want you to use them in the designated cooking area for safety reasons. Call parks and rec for LA county, maybe if you obtain a special permit (even though its a hassle) you can have it where you want. Good luck! =)

i don't think I'd roll my full size grill out there, but if you call the park and it's allowed, i would bring a camping size grill to cook on.

I Would say to call the Department of Parks and Recreation and ASK them. There is no way for you to know otherwise.
