Patio Furniture That Is Sturdy

I don't know if I am over thinking this or not. We need new patio furniture, It needs to be reasonabley prices, not super cheap but reasonable. We also have some friends and family that are very obese and i need something sturdy so that they feel comfortable. The chairs we seem to be seeing don't have four legs, they are "s" shaped if you will, a modern look. they sort of bounce a little when you sit in them, they do not look like they would support a large amount of weight. I really liked the chiars we had before they had four legs but had strips of stsrong plastic webbing that have all sagged and come apart.

Hubby says not to worrry about other people, He is 200 libs himself, and if comfortable when testing them out, but my momand his brother and several other people do weight more than that. We have looked at Lowes, home depot, Sears, Walmart, and K mart.

Should i not worry about it and just plan on replacign them again soon, or can someone recommend a reasonably priced set that would be sturdy??? I can't be the only person in the world dealing wth this.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So far it seems we should spend more and get better quality. We had been thinking around $500 for a six person table and dining chairs.

I'll keep looking, Targets website wasn't easy to work with, I selected patio furniture and all sorts of patio junk was coming up, I just want a complete dining set. But i'll keep trying.

I agree on this one...you get what you pay for and $500 won't get you much. We just bought a set at Lowe's last year and I love it. I wouldn't say it is high end but we did spend around $1000 by the time it was said and done (umbrella too). It was the best we could find for the $$ and in the style we wanted.

Do you have Kroger in your area? They often have very nice, affordable sets, although not a lot of variety. My experience has been that they are very sturdy, although we do not have anyone obese in our family to really put it to the test...

We have a classic wrought iron set. Sturdy and we've had it over 10 years--more like 13-14 really.

I have a cast aluminum set I got from Target on clearance 7 years ago. I keep it covered all year long and it has held up great. It was the end of the season and I was at the right place right time kind of thing and I think I paid $500 for 6 chairs(with cushions) and a stone top table! Wasn't passing that one up.
I did have a wrought iron set before this one and it is very sturdy but it does rust and they aren't very comfortable.

I bought wrought iron spring rockers at Shopko years ago for this very reason. They were the only ones that didnt look flimsy and wobble when bigger people sat in them. I didnt want anything with just spindly legs welded under the seat that could just bend and break off under weight. Dont get things with plastic strap seats, or wicker, or molded deck/stack chairs. They are all made for people under 150 pounds and will break and youll end up with someone getting hurt.

You really do get what you pay for. I have found this to be especially true of anything that is meant to be used outside!
I would start searching craigslist, consignment stores and garage/estate sales for high quality, wrought iron furniture. It's really the best. All the fabric/strappy stuff will wear out quickly, especially under the type of strain you are talking about.

I just bought patio furniture. It is going to be VERY hard to find a 7 piece for $500.
I bought a set at Costco, its awesome, and after LOTS of searching, found it to be very reasonably priced at $1100, and it was marked down from $1300.

That also didnt include the $180 umbrella I bought at Target. Still have to buy an umbrella stand.....sigh

I have sat in many outdoor furniture pieces lately. It seems the higher the price, the more sturdy they are.

You didn't mention Target. I don't think they had the S shaped base.
