Have Any of You Spray Painted Plastic Patio Furniture with Special Spray Paint?

Yep! Power washed the plastic furniture just like Gamma G suggested. It looks great, really, but I think it would stay looking clean longer if it is not white, so I am going to use Krylon Fusion spray paint that is made especially to paint plastic.

Have any of you done this? How do you like the results? Did the paint look good the following year? Does it wash easily? I'm just trying to decide whether my upcycling project is worth the effort. Thanks!

What can I do next?

It looked ok for one season. I picked up a nice wrought iron set of furniture at a yard sale for $50 and ditched the plastic!

Tried it. Didn't last very long and wasn't good coverage. That's been several yrs ago. Unless they reformulated it, No.

two years ago I spray painted large plastic flower pots, that were a light grey to a metallic bronze color that also had some texture to it, as I recall.

they still look good this year, which surprises me.

I have always wondered about this myself...

I figured that the motion, movement of the chair, fatigue from bending and bowing, would cause the paint to crack and peel like an ugly sunburn. So I've never tried. I guess if you do it you can let us know how it turned out!

I know that quite a few years ago my cousin tried it on a plastic climber for her son. She had bought it used and it was faded from the sun. She thought it would be easy, but said it did not cover well and took much more paint than she thought it would. It dd not look great (she didn't really care since it was just a toy) but she was bummed since the commercial had made it look so flawless and easy.

Again, it was quite a few years ago. So maybe it has been improved. I would look at some sites where they sell it and look at customer reviews.

Nope. Sorry. We bought an expensive set when we bought our house 9 years ago. It looks like it did when we bought it.

Wrought iron is amazing.

I have used that particular paint with great results. Not specifically outdoor furniture. But items that are/were exposed to the elements.
