I am looking to possibly switch practices for my 4 month old. Some things I am interested in are alternative vaccine schedules, very familiar and comfortable with breastfed babies, not quick with the antibiotics, accessible after hours, evening and Saturday appointments, 2 or more docs in practice, holistic approach.

Dear A.:

I switched at about the same age with my son -- for the very same reasons, too! I'm in the Oak Park area and am very happy with Drs. Choi and Cabotaje (1-###-###-####). In that practice, Choi is the older doctor, and Cabotaje is the younger -- they are both competent, compassionate, responsive, and wholistic. I preferred their vaccine schedules -- since they see the child every month (until 9 months), they can give fewer vaccines each time. Evening and Saturday hours also. Good luck!

I love my ped. He is out of Naperville right next to Edward hospital with the DuPage Medical group on Spalding Ave. His name is Dr. Michael Fitzgerald and he is the nicest and most honest Dr I have been with. My son has only been on antibiotics once in his 2.5 years and that was for an ear infection that was prescribed by the ER, not my Dr. He is completely fine to our idea of delayed vaccines for both my son and daughter (she was just born in Dec.). Here is his number if you are interested: ###-###-####. He seems to really love his job and the people he works with!!!!

Dr. Thomas Moore in Shorewood, ####-###-####. There are other doctors in the office with him. They have Saturday appointments but I'm not sure about evenings. They have a 24 hour on-call service. I had no problems with him while I was breastfeeding, he does not automatically prescribe antibiotics, at least for ear infections, etc. He is also flexible with vaccines and does not try to push them on you. Good Luck!
