Certain Dry sold at Walgreens. It is odorless but nothing else on the market will keep you this dry!
Allright Mama's, This is embarrassing for me, but I need to know if anyone can suggest a really good anti-perspirant/deodorant. I'm in my mid-forties and have never had this problem before, but it seems that lately my anti-perspirant/deodorant hasn't been doing it's job. I've been using Suave forever, and it's worked just fine, until lately. I prefer a solid. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

Hi D.,
I have been using the Clinical Strength Secret...it has several different scents...it works well as far as dryness. There are several other "clinical strength" products, but I have yet to try them...
Hi D., I switch between dove and suave. I think I also become "immune" to certain ones. I usually buy both kinds at once and switch which one I use every couple of days.
I've had the same problem. My current solution is Secret Platinum Conditioning Solid.
Arm & Hammer baking soda anti persperant unscented. make sure you wash with anti bacterial soap (at least for a time)
I use the perscription stregnth (sold over the counter) secret platnum it works pretty good.
your dr might know of a newer script product...

I started having this same problem at age 23! There are a few things to try...first, I got to the point that as long as it wouldn't stink, I would accept the sweat. I used a salt rock deoderant from Whole foods; it lasts FOREVER and it really did keep my pits from stinking! There is also a salt spray. I used the solid after a shower and the spray as a 'touch-up'. I had tried everything else with no success. Just recently (age 33) I tried Secret Platnium Gel (my preference was solid). I have to say, it has worked really well! I'm waiting to see if I get the same results during summertime. It is an annoying problem to have, isn't it? I hope one of these helps you. Also, there is a anti-perspirant called Certain Dry that works, but I didn't care for it...if it wasn't totally dry, it would bleach out my clothes. PS~I just read one of the responses and realized that my problem has been gone since about the time I started my thyroid medication, so maybe that could be it.
Well, they have prescription strength deo in the store now, but they are costly. I find that I have to switch deo's every 6 mos to a year..because it seems like they just stop working...I still haven't figured that out yet...try switching brands that might have the same strength ingredients in it..you know that percentage on the label..good luck.
Hi D.,
I had the same problem for three years. I have bought one of each deo at the store and none of them worked. It was embarrasing when we would go out and it was hot or I would just get a little warm. I hated it. Finally I was talking to someone and they stated I was probably "overloaded" with toxins and chemicals in my body and recommended a detox program. I did it and also did a "foot cleanse" and I was able to use ANY deodorant. To keep from getting in that same situation, I started using deodorant without aluminum (linked to breast cancer anyway) at the health food store. Now, when I go to church or a special outing I use the store brand and I am fine. Hope this helps. ANy questions of detox or foot cleansing contact me on the reply below.
Certain Dry works to keep you dry, but you put it on at night and it tends to make you itch a bit at first so apply it sparingly or you'll go CRAZY. It's the best anti-perspirant in my opinion. good luck
Secret has a "prescription strength" that is over the counter. I use the regular Secret and it works great for me.
Hi D.!
I would find out why you have bad smell. Bad smell could be because of stress and lots of toxins your body want to remove. Check some detox programs. I do use special nutritional supplement that works great for me.
When you buy anti-perspirant/deodorant make check for aluminum zirconium. Buy deodorant that is FREE OF BAD chemicals that harm us.
Good luck -W.
Mitchum Unscented. Its in a dark green bottle and its carried in all the drug stores and most of the grocery stores. Its the best out there that I know of. And I'm a serious sports person.
Like the other posts said, my sisters and I have become "immune" to certain brands at times and just need to switch the brand, not necessarily to something stronger.
Hi dear,
Welcome to the club lol!! I am 43 with a 4 year old daughter. I was having the same problem untill a friend of mine told me about Melaleuca ( I am a member of it). They have products like Wallgreens. I decided to try the deodorant and it's working good for me. Go to the website and take a look at what they have: www.melaleuca.com I can also give you one as a sample so you can try it first like I did. If you have any questions, feel free to email me @ ____@____.com
Good luck!!
I've had this happen to me several times over the years. I'll use a particular brand for a while and then all of a sudden, it stops working. In my experience, just try another brand and it will probably work.
At first, I'd think I needed something stronger so I'd go from like Secret to Mitchum or something like that. But then, over time, and because of budget constraints, if I was using say Degree at the time, I could switch to something like Suave and it would work just fine. So it didn't seem to make a difference that it was the stronger or more expensive brand. Just that it was different.
That's what did it for me anyway. Hope it's as easy for you as well. :-)
dry idea powder scent keeps me DRY and "fresh" all day...
I have had good luck with Dove solid. It comes off clean in the shower and doesn't leave all that gook in your razor. Smells good, too! Good luck!

Dear D. T,
I know you probably think you're too young, but have you ever considered that you might be beginning to enter peri menopause? Around your same age, my doc tested me and told me it would be years and years before I began menopause. 6 months later, she retested me, and I was full blown! Maybe, it's beginning. It's probably time to visit your doctor.

I went through the same things a few years ago. I tried almost every kind. What I also did was look in stores to find the travel sizes so I did't waste so much if it didn't work. After all that I finally found Degree for Women. So far that is the only one that works for me.
Good Luck.
Your body is just probably used to the one you have been using for so long. Ban is a good brand b/c it has a higher % of the antiperspirant factor than most deodorants out there. Or you can always try the clinical strength kinds. If all else fails, go to your dermatologist... they can prescribe something for you.
I use Mitchum (sp) for women. So effective, you can even skip a day (that's what the advertisement says). Good luck.
D. - Since you have been so bold as to pose this question, I will be bold in stepping out of the hygeine closet. I have always had a problem with body odor, even as a young child, but about a year ago I found that several companies, including Degree and Secret, have a clinical formula. It works wonders and has completely eliminated my problem. Be sure to use a deodorant soap, too.
In your case, get the product, but also see your doctor or a specialist in hormones. If the problem has appeared recently, it might be a medical issue.
I really like the Arm & Hammer brand.
Mitchum deoderant for women is really good. Their marketing slogan is "so good you could skip a day" and I really believe you could. The shower fresh is my favorite. They come in solid or clear gel. The clear gel is all I've ever used. :)
The same thing happened to me when I reached my mid-40's (I'll soon be 49). I had been using Ban Roll-on since I was in my 20's. A few years ago it just didn't seem to work for me anymore, especially as far as odor control. I hit menopause nearly 2 years ago & I figure my body chemistry changed when that happened. I experimented with Mitchum for Women but didn't care too much for it. Then I tried Secret Platinum clear gel. I really like it & have been using it ever since. Numerous scents to choose from. Good luck!
If it's just the smell and not the sweating that's bugging you, it's possible that you may have a mild bacterial infection in your pits. This is easily treated - just take a Vitamin B Complex pill once a day for about two weeks, until you notice the smell going away. It's possible that hormonal changes may have caused an increase in sweat production (and I'm not sure what you'd do to change that). Be cautious too with what you apply to your skin - an anti-perspirant will actually prevent sweating which (IMHO) can't get good for your system, and may actually be part of the problem.
Hi D.,
The problem is from inside your gland, so deodorant alone can not fix the problem. You need to look at the nutritional side. I know if people who had great result with nutritional supplements and I can recommand a safe and effective one if you wish, just let me know.
Blessings!
i have to switch just about everytime it runs out - one of the ones that works best for me it arrid extra dry
Bless your heart. I have the same challenge due to a thyroid condition. I had to start using my husband's anti-perspirant and deodorant. It's Mitchum and it's the roller kind. I absolutely hate the feel of it, but the solid just doesn't work as well. The other alternative is to get a prescription from your doctor.

When you find something, let us all know. I used Degree forever and it just quit working overnight. I've spent a lot money on ones that did't work, so I feel your pain. I am currently trying the Clinical Degree. With the 80 degree temps coming this week, I guess I'll find out soon if it's going to make the grade. Good luck!
Secret is the only one that keeps me "fresh" all day/night. I can't use anything else. As some of the other posts have mentioned, there's also clinical strength. I have also noticed that I have better luck if I put it on completely dry underarms! Good luck!
I switch back and forth between clinical strength Degree and Secret. It has to be clinical strength or it does not work for me. I also have to switch back and forth to keep from become "immune" to one.
I've had this before and it seems to go in 5 year cycles for me. Last time, I was using Secret and it just stopped working and I switched to AArid. Love(d) it for years! (I even trained/completed 2 triathlons using it). Now, I'm on to Dove/Degree. I have to alternate. I read the post about doing the detox and I'm definitely trying that. I've felt really run-down this past month and that's when the deoderant thing started too.
if you find something that works let us know!!! I do think it's tied to your body chemistry and even without a pregnancy or major issue this can happen.
Nothing works forever! Sometimes they change one little thing in the ingrediance, and boom! I had the same problem last year! My mom used a natural stone. Now I use that and secret. Sometime I do not even need the Secret.
This may be trial and error for you since everyone's body chemistry is different. I haven't found a Mitchum product yet that works for me but the prescription strength products do. Dove has one that smells very fresh. If you can't find anything that works satisfactoritly I read that you can have Botox injected in your arm pits and that will stop you from perspiring completely, hence no odor and no need for deodorant at all. Best of luck to you!
I had the same problem after my baby was born and I've been using the clinical strength secret and it works really well. The only problem is it's $7. Degree and Dove make clinical strength also but I have never tried those.
Have you tried Armen Hammer Baking soday kind? I think it works well, just don't get the one with high alcholo in it, it tends to break your arms out.
Good luck!
I used Degree for a long time, and then tried some different brands and some worked and some different! I guess different people need different things! So, try Degree.
I was really glad to hear that I wasn't alone in this matter. In fact, I went to a doctor to discuss my BO problem, which tripled after my hysterectomy, but after hearing that the only option was surgery involving the veins/arteries of the heart - no, no not for me. If this is stress and toxic related (like mine) then my solution was to FIRST, soak in a hot tub filled with the combination of 2 cups Epson Salt, 1/3 cup of Baking Soda, your favorite bubbles and viola! SECOND, I know many of you prefer solids, BUT, I casually stumbled across what I label as the “product of the century”...it’s all natural (I know sounds funky and I would be the absolute last person out there to believe or promote natural cures for problems) there is a deodorant spray exclusively sold at The Spa At Camelback Inn, Scottsdale, Arizona. This spray covers the anti-wetness and odor issues, and is great for those with sensitivity issues, hypo-allergenic, too, and the secret ingredient, if you will, is allspice. That’s it.
Here is the list of products that failed me: Mitchum / Certain Dri-AM/PM / Almay Hypoallergenic / Secret (any one of them) / Degree (which I used for years) / Right Guard for Men
Arm&Hammer Ultra Max and Ban solid white unscented roll-on seemed to be the best of the lot for me...but that one also has its moments -- Bottom Line: I’ll stick to this Spa brand which I have been swearing by for over 2 years successfully!
clinical strength Secret. or ask your Doctor about using Drysol.
Secret Clinical Strength is what I use, it is a bit more expensive but I haven't had any odor priblems since.
I had that problem too, and tried Degree Clinical Protection. It works wonders ! I think several of the brands have come out with a "clinical protection" type.
I am the same way so I just switch when the problem arises and it always does the trick. The two I switch between are Secret and Dove. HTH
I used to suffer from overactive sweating. for no reason Id have sweat stains and no amount of deodarant/antiprespirant would help so I talked to my doctor and he prescribed drysol. It is a nightly application just like you do with deodorant and after doing this for a week you cut it down to 2-3 times a week. It has been a life saver! Just talk to your doctor.
Have you thought about a detox. Buy at health food store.
Had the same problem, tried everything including prescription anti-perspirant, nothing worked great. Tried Secret Clinical Protection works great, use it at night before going to bed to give it time to work-only time I reapply is before excersing.
This probably won't help a whole lot because I don't know what I am talking about, but I heard something about certain foods that we eat (or having too much candida built up in our bodies) causing odors. You are going to make me research, because I have the same problem and had forgotten all about the nutrition thing which I read years ago.
Hey -- I have experienced the same thing, also in my mid-forties.... What works best for me is switching between secret clinical and Degree Solid (men extreme blast).... I keep them both and switch every other day. I'm sure at some point these will stop working and I'll have to find another combo. Best of luck to you...
Vinegar in a spray bottle always work well and is natural.
hi D.,
i had the same prob & now use degree & it works great! hope u figure it out. have a great week!
