I have a two year old daughter that I was potty training. She was doing really good for a like a week. Well she went poop in it and he splashed her and she got scared. Now she doesnt want anything to do with the potty. I even tried to get her to go on the little potty, but she starts to throw a fit when I take her anywhere near it. I have even tried to "bribe" her with M&Ms or stickers and nothing. Is there anything I can do, or do I have to wait till she isnt scared of the potty anymore.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the great advice. I havent pushed the issue of potty training on her. I do try to get her to go into the bathroom with me when I go so she can get use to being in the bathroom and there isnt anything to be scared of. She is starting to let me sit her on the potty, but she still wont use it. That is a big accomplishment for her to sit there and not scream and cry. T.

I really dont have very good advice except for the simple fact that kids will do it when they are ready to. Potty training isn't something that we can force on them so just give her some time and when she is ready she'll do it. I would say though to use one of the training little potty's that way there is no water to splash her. I remember trying with my daughter when she had just turned two but she had no interest in it. After a couple months though she seemed interested and within a week was fully potty trained so just give her some time...she'll come around..hope this helps you!

I agree with what was previously said, when your daughter is ready, she'll let you know. She just may be to young. We just got our alomost 4 year old potty trained. We had been concerned enough to even talk to our pediatrician, who told us not to worry. And that the average age for potty training is 3.5 years old. For us, when we finally had success, we just told our daughter oh pull ups are all gone, I guess we will wear underwear, and we just stuck with it. She of course has had the occassional accident, but that's all. And we went on with our lives. If we went out, we would sometimes put the rubber pants on over the undies. And took lots of extras. So just be patient (which was hard for me, because I am also a nanny and the boy I nannied for trained early), she'll let you know! Don't be afraid for trial and error. Find what works for you.

We are potty training my 2 year old son so I know what you're going through.
With my boy we made a Potty Chart and we have a treat basket. Everytime he goes pee he get's 1 sticker and 1 treat from the basket. Poop, 2. I've filled the basket with candy (of fcourse) and cheap little toys. Once he fills up the sheet with stickers (It has about 40-50 squares for stickers) he gets a toy. I've also learned that if he isn't wearing underwear or a diaper, he tells me when he has to go, but if he's got undies on, he won't tell me. Try going diaperless!

He who splashed her?

Sounds like she's using a big potty....have you tried a potty chair....there would be nothing in it to splash her...
