HELP!!!!! PLEASE tell me this is a phase. Recently my 4 1/2 month old daughter gets into these raging crying fits when we do not hold her. She is fine at day care and I know they don't hold her all day. She has been fed, changed and is not in pain. Is this just the beginning of separation anxiety or is there a deeper problem? We go to the doctor friday for her 4 months shots so I can ask the doctor then. Her crying is very hard to take and I usually let it go for a few minutes before I give in and picker her up. She has always been the happiest baby. Could this be preteething.

What can I do next?

probably just a stage. this too shall pass. my daughtr was always a screamer.. at 2 days, 2 months and now at 2 years..'''

I doubt that anything medical is wrong if your baby is generally fine and then suddenly cries.

sick kids are lethargic and crying all day.

It be preteething, it could be missing you. I went backt to work when my daughter was 3 months old... I bought a sling for when her and I were together, I could get things done AND she was a happy baby again.

My 3 month old has had a few of those lately. For him changing positions is good- from holding him to letting him lay on his back and kick, etc. I've also thought pre-teething but know that can go on for a while before they actually get a tooth.

Hi, hang in there. My daughter did the same thing. Every evening at around 5:30 she would only be content if someone, usually me, was holding her. After getting checked out at the doctors my peditrician said it was a probably a combination of boredom and the need to be held. Every baby needs a certain amount of cuddling in a day and if she isn't getting it at daycare then that leaves it all for the evening.

As my daughter got older she settled down a lot and she could be entertained by toys and my personal favorite Baby Einstein videos. When I needed 20 min with no baby in my arms I would put on either the Baby Bach or the Baby Neptune and she would be ok. However I did eventually master the art of doing things with one hand or with the baby in a front carrier, which saved my sanity.

Just hold on, as long as she gets a clean bill of health at the doctors, it will get better.

God Bless,
K.

Perhaps it's teething.. my Ds does this when he's teething. Perhaps she just needs to be held. You could get a sling and carry her like the other mom suggested. I LOVE the ERGO sling cause you can carry your baby on your back and get things done. Ds is very happy being carried.. I figure it's good exercise for me too!
