Recliner Covers Do They Stay in Place?

I have two recliners that were both given to us one is maroon and the other
is a very bad sea foam green. They are both good chairs but ugly. I found some recliner covers from a company called SUREFIT SLIPCOVERS, They run about $80.00 each. I was wondering if anyone has ever used recliner slip covers. I have not had very good luck with couch covers in the past. Do the recliner covers fit nicely? Do they stay in place? Will they hold up to 5 kids and a Great Dane? I really want to hear from someone who has used them befor I spend the $160.00. Altho that is alot cheaper then buying two new chairs. Thank you A.

What can I do next?

My father-in-law got us one, and it ripped pretty quickly. I'm not sure where he got it, but it had to be stretched a bit to fit snugly, and that made it more vulnerable to tearing.

Check out Domestications. Their recliner slip covers are cheaper, I think $59.95? Bryland Homes also has recliner slip covers as well. You might find something you like better there and for less money.

I've ordered from both of these companies many times and have always been happy with the quality and service, and they both have great return policies.

But I have NOT ordered the recliner slip covers...

We actually use old sheets (that we like the pattern on and that are in good shape) instead of recliner covers. The elasticity on the edges holds them in place. They are kids friendly, cheap, and super easy to wash. It won't work if your deco is really fancy, but it works for us.

My mom used a surefit slipcover on a recliner and it looked great and fit beautifully. Much better quality than the "walmart" type couch covers I have used in the past. My mom lives on a farm, has small dogs that jump on the furniture and grandkids in and out on a daily basis. I think she could machine wash the cover, too. Something to be sure of before you buy it.

I don't know about the recliner covers, but I bought a slipcover from them for my sofa 2+ years ago, and it's still going strong. It's a little faded from multiple washings (it's burgandy), but it still works and stains come out easily!

Good luck! And BTW, I'm a mom of 5 and I often say that I live in a zoo, too! Too funny!

Are your recliners standard size? Ours are a little too cushiony, and the couch one has two independently rocking parts (one side can rock while the other one stays basically stationary), and the slipcovers we got from Bed, Bath & Beyond didn't stay very well, and were too high up in the back.

Here's a trick to help, though: stuff rolled magazines between the arms and the seats, and between the seats and the backs. It helps to hold the slipcovers in these crevices rather than having them slide upwards gradually. Also, you can get a sort of spiraling thumbtack sort of thing from most sewing or crafts stores (well, you'll probably find them in packs of 20 or whatever :). I can't remember what they're called. You twist them in and they hold pretty well.
