Seeking Pediatrician in Harlem And/or Upper West Side That Accepts GHI

Hello,
I'm looking for a pediatrician. A group practice is okay but would prefer a private practice. See, I'm looking for an office that doesn't run like a cattle call. Someone with: excellent bedside manner, someone who makes themselves accessible to answer questions, someone that isn't pushing you out of the door, someone that is firmly pro-breastfeeding, someone who clearly respects parents opinions i.e. being okay with spreading out vaccinations. And finally someone who takes GHI. Is this too much to ask? Does this pediatrician exist? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you Terrie, Arielle and Asha for your suggestions.
I recently started to really shop around. When I posted, I was info gathering. I recently called all three.

Terri- Dr. Sahni is out of the country so I left my contact info and was told the Doc would call me back upon returning. I thought it was a good sign to hear the doc would take the time out to call me back so that's pending.

Arielle- I missed the last group consult and was told they happen once a month. I took the trip Downtown to try to make the consult and was annoyed at myself for making it to the neighborhood way too late.

Asha- I will attend the group consult tomorrow. Turns out my neighbor is with the practice and also had lovely things to say about it. Unfortunately, I was told Diana will not be there for the consult but I'm sure whoever it is, they'll talk about her and the other members of the practice.

Hello G.! Welcome to Harlem. It's lovely here=). I have a 1 and a 3 yr. old (I just stopped breastfeeding last week). I, too, am a stay-at-home mom, BUT I need that to change ASAP! Their pediatrician is Diana Perez @ Westcare Pediatrics - 241 Central Park West (b. 83rd and 84th sts.) ###-###-####. Ms. Perez is actually a CNP, but she is excellent. She is thorough, patient and very smart. She absolutely encourages breastfeeding and is totally agreeable to spreading out vaccinations. I've sent several of my friends there with their babies and they, too, are very pleased. Good luck with your search!

Please let me know if you have any questions are need additional information.

A.

I don't know if they take GHI, but I really like my son's pediatrician who is on the Upper West Side - 75th street - we live in Harlem too, and it is still very convenient on teh 2/3 line. Her name is Dr. Kusum Khanna - ###-###-####. I breast fed and never did formula and she was totally accepting of this, and doesn't seem totally rigid to other types of approaches to health care either. Hope that helps.

Hi G.!

I feel your pain! I have GHI as well and it was torture to find a pedi. I live in Harlem too and found one not far from Columbia Pres. Her name is Dr. Gunjeet Sahni located at 46 Ft. Washington Ave. #2 @ 161st Street (btwn B'way and Ft. Washington) I LOVE HER! She even gave me her cell number and actually answers it. Her office number is ###-###-####. My daughter is 7-1/2 months, let me know if you're interested in a playdate since you are new to the area! Good luck. Oh, forgot to say that she does take GHI.
