I want to do something special w/my 2 1/2 yr son this week that doesn't cost a lot of $$$$ cause I am having surgery next week"partial hysterectomy" and i won't be able to take him or go anywhere for a bit.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can take him that he will enjoy?

I also have another question while I am at it. He has been saying pee pee but after the fact that he pee's in his diaper. He will sit in the potty but nothing, a few months ago he was going in the potty both pee pee and poopy but then he stopped. It's pretty hard because I am a single mother and when he goes to his dad's/grandparent's there isn't a lot of consistancy. Any ideas? It's been 13-14 yrs since I had to do this.

Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks
M.

What can I do next?

I used to take my kids to Northpark this time of year for the free puppet shows, concerts and performances. They loved it, and it is absolutely free! You might check with your local mall, but I know that Northpark usually has the wonderful Scrooge puppet show and more. They might have a schedule on their website of activities.

Good luck with the surgery!

We're going to see the trains at North Park Mall and we're also planning on taking a train ride in Grapevine.
On another tip, I see you're interested in the missionary thing and have a teen son. Are you familiar with Teen Mania's Acquire the Fire? It's AWESOME and specializes in taking teens on mission trips ALL OVER the world. If you want to go with your son, you can be a team leader and they'll do some great training with you, very intensive. The first trip you take is 10% off as a leader, the 2nd trip is 50% off, and from then on, it's free because they need experienced leaders!

You can take him to Santa's Village off Arapaho and 75. It is free and alot of fun for the kiddos. http://www.cor.net/WinterHoliday/Homepage.html
Also downtown Grapevine is having a Christmas event every weekend. Most of it if is free. It costs $12 a person to ride the Polar Express train.
I am planning on taking my son on a Cowboys Stadium tour and to visit the Cavanaugh flight Museum. It's free for kids under 5/6 for both of these events. Pretty cheap for adults too. www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com

With the potty training with dad/grandparents. I had the exact same problem. My son went to the potty just fine at home but his dad refused to keep up the training. I finally just took the pull-ups away when he went over to his dads. (which wasn't too often) When he picked him up I would explain that if he said he had to go, he better pull over b/c he was in underwear. It worked great! His dad refused to buy pull-ups and so he was forced to take him to the potty.
