I got married three months ago on Sept. 28th and thought the time of year was perfect. I wanted a wedding when it was not too hot or cold. Here in Texas, that's hard to predict. Even in late September it was warmer than I wanted, but not too bad. My first marriage was in Louisiana at the end of December and it was unseasonably hot. I couldn't believe it. So no matter how much planning you try and do, you really can't predict what the weather may do. But I loved the fall colors I used. My bridesmaid wore a dark royal blue and her flowers were a cluster of bright orange roses. It was really gorgeous.

Well, it depends on the weather you like.
I got married in July in Arlington VA. It was 105 degrees... I don't recommend that.
I would do Fall or Spring, especially in Texas. I mean it just lends to better weather I think.
It is a personal decision though.
I used to do event planning... there is really NO bad time. Always things to work around. ya know!

One thing to think about is there alot of other celebrations around your picked date. We picked a May wedding it was gorgeous in the vally but now we have mother's day, wedding anniversary , and one of my daughter's birthdays and then my birthday. It makes for an extremely busy month and expensive. Food for thought! Congrats on getting maried!

We wanted to start the new year off married, so we traveled to our destination on Jan 1 and got married Jan 2. That was cool, and it was easy to get everyone together for the event during the holidays because everyone's already off work and planning to come together anyway. The not-so-good side is that it's difficult to get good childcare or an effortless date afterwards for an anniversary, because it's the holidays and EVERYONE is out. Travel and hotels tend to be much more expensive for the new year, until about 5 days later. That said, we still really love our anniversary and had an awesome experience.
One suggestion is this: is there a theme or colors that you really, really want? For formal wear, I just really like winter styles so much better, so it worked good for me. That might help you narrow the season down.
May-June is a popular time to get married because school's out, travel is easier, and the weather is nicer. The problem is that it's very often difficult to get the venues you want because...EVERYONE is getting married then.

Summer weddings tend to be HOT HOT HOT here in Texas, so if you are planning an outdoor wedding I wouldn't recommed late June, July or August. The summer heat tends to last until the start of September. But the grass is green and people usualy are already traveling for summer break. September and October are good months for outdoor weddings as it is pretty mild outside and the leaves are starting to turn. But you might want to make sure you have the wedding before all the leaves fall off the trees and they look dead. May and the beginning of June are good times also for spring weddings. There tends to be less rain and all the flowers are in full bloom so less expensive for flowers and prettier for outdoor weddings. But because of this, there are alot of weddings here in Texas. January, February, March, April, November, December tends to be cold and/or WET. We don't get snow here much in Texas, but we might get ice or slush. So keep this in mind if planning a winter wedding. But in January you start out the new year married, February is refered to as the month of love because of Valentines Day, March and April the leaves are coming back and the flowers are starting to bloom, and November and December your family is already around due to the holidays and you end the year married. You don't want your guests having to cancel due to traveling for vacation like in summer or spring break, or having to stay home because of bad weather like ice or sleet. You also want to match your wedding colors to the season. I.E. Pastel=Spring, Earth tones=Fall, Bright colors=Summer, Dark colors=Winter. Good luck and congrats on the wedding!

Having been married twice, I prefer the fall, so the first time was in November - the day was beautiful, and cool, but not cold outside. We had an indoor wedding and reception, but took a few pictures outside. Fortunately the day didn't reflect on the relationship. DH and I have been married seven years and we married at the end of September. I can't tell you much about the weather then as I had the flu and didn't CARE! Congratulations and good luck!

Freeze in August? I am guessing that either you didn't marry in Dallas or that was a typo. In August here, you'd be LUCKY if it was down to 80 at night. Here in Texas, you can get married anytime, but if you want an outdoor wedding, the months of March and April are nice...as well as September and October. If you are married in the summer, don't expect to do anything outdoors. We got married in June and took a horse and carriage from our wedding space to our party space and it was a bit on the hot side. Good luck and congrats!

January 18 is my anniversary - the biggest benefit was the discounted Christmas greenery available from the florist (my colors were red and green) and the caterer, because it wasn't during a peak season. (I'm from New Orleans, so it goes Christmas, New Year's, break, VDay, Mardi Gras, Spring weddings, Summer fests, Fall weddings, then starts over again).

We got married Sept 1, 2001. A little warm, but a great weekend. It was over labor day weekend, which gave alot of the family/friends who came from out of town an extra day to travel or enjoy themselves. Its always great to have our anniversary around a holiday! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and most importantly enjoy yourself!

I got married in East Texas in mid September many years ago and the weather was perfect.

In Texas we very rarely have cold days in August-more likely checking the heat index. LOL You are safe from cold days on into late September. After that it is anyone's guess. We have had shorts on at Halloween and hats and gloves on right before Halloween. Go figure.

In spring, it was more unpredictable. Every 3-4 years we get cold weather on into April. But usually it is warm by then and you can wear shirt sleeves.

I don't know about other parts. The closer you are to the coast the warmer and more humid it is. (Houston, Beaumont)

Check the Farmer's Almanac and it may have some guidelines to go by. ;-)

So much would depend on what part of the country you live in. North, South, East, West ? Why not start the summer off as a newly wed? Do you have your children all summer or do they spend time away with their father or other family members? One of the things overlooked in your request was what was best for your special needs children. Weddings are important but marriages are what last forever. If your children are in school is August a busy time getting them ready for a new year? Maybe they don't need another aggervation and everone will be confused as to what they are aggervaited at, a new school year or a new parent? Look for a time of the season that is best for the family, weather will not matter when love abounds. May your new family be blessed with love.
