At my wedding we did the Mother/Son and Daughter/Father dance at the same time to Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.
Any good ideas for a mother/son wedding dance? Is it typically slow or fast? I prefer fast, but slow that morphed into fast would be fun.
Thanks as usual!
thank you!

You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban
A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
I Hope You Dance by Leanne Womack
Wind Beneath My Wings
I'd go for slow, don't try to upstage the bride and groom.
Typically slow. It's one of four formal dances at the beginning of a reception (guess who used to be a wedding dj?)
Bride/groom
Mother/ son
Father/ daughter (sometimes combined with m/s)
Bridal party
The bridal party is usually the last, and usually the one to transition to general dancing - either from the song speeding up and encouragement by the dj, or having a fast song selected.
Depending on formality, some brides also choose a parents dance and/or grandparents dance.
Slow - typical Choices on m/s:
Wind beneath my wings
You are my hero
Basically if no song is special to them, something slow that doesn't sound Oedipal.
My husband danced with his mom to "A Song for Mama" by Boyz To Men. It is completely slow, but it does have a lot of meaning.
Depends on how many tears you want to shed!!
"The Man You've Become" is on the top of my list for when my son gets married. Another good one is "My Loving Son."
Check them out on YouTube.
Good luck!!
Here's the song my dad and I danced to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmjGIFBpX2U
Since you know me, you will understand why this made everyone laugh (Henry Nillson's alternate lyrics include, "I'm 5'10", a man among men, and you're 7'2"... with all your faults, it's you I adore, when you stand up, your hands touch the floor...") Which is particularly funny for a dad who is 5'10" with a daughter who is an Amazon like me. :) Also, my dad had sung that song to me from the time I was little (yes, we have a funny relationship).
Anyway, so my suggestion is to find something that represents your relationship with your son that has meaning for both of you. You're a cool mom, so I bet there are some good songs out there that have great meaning for you and your son. ;)
Remember that the day is really about the bride and groom, so something classic and slow is most appropriate.
My husband and his mother danced to "Wonderful World" because she loved it and it was her choice!
I second Victoria. A Song for Mama by Boyz to Men!!
Choose any song that you like and is special to you. I would say maybe not too special because certain songs make me cry and I think my son (and I) would be embarrassed crying out there on the dancefloor!
