Hey Ladies,
My husband and are celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary in November and it is my year to plan the weekend away. I need some creative ideas on where to go (within a 2 hour radius of Detroit), and what to do? We are both really looking forward to this weekend. :)

What can I do next?

Hey C.-

Not sure exactly what kind of ideas you were looking for, but have you looked into any quiet little bed and breakfasts? I can't remember where exactly they are located, I looked into it a year or two back and there are a couple around. I would just google it. I think that would be a nice weekend away, and right now the colors are changing it would be beautiful! Just an idea. Hope your weekend is great!!!

This of course would depend on what you're looking for (ie: relax vs active) but my husband and I have enjoyed overnights at the Montague Inn (www.montagueinn.com), a bed and breakfast in Saginaw which is about 15 mins from the Birch Run Outlets and Frankenmuth so we were able to do some shopping as well. We stayed in the Cass room and they have incredible food/wine in their dining room. Check out their Sweetheart package, it is a nice relaxing get away. Also, we went several years ago to the Thomas Edison Inn in Port Huron (www.thomasedisoninn.com) which is a bigger hotel with more amenities It is right on the St Clair with the freighters and boats going by and again they had a dining room with great food. (Can you tell what is important to us...food!) We would go back to either in a heartbeat.

Hi C.,

Up North is a B&B called Black Star Farms...it is AMAZING!!

It is a mansion is beautiful!! This time of year would also be beautiful up there. Can't remember how long it took us to get there...also not sure how much you want to spend but it is worth it!
You arrive and there is a bottle of wine in your room...then you go down to the library and all guests are invited to have cheese and crackers, shrimp and taste their wine (it is a winery also) and chat. You get your own bathroom and you can go online and pick your room, some have jacuzzi's etc. It really is BEAUTIFUL!! There is a cute little town down the road to have dinner and cute little shops. My husband and I had a relaxing time and can't wait to go again!!! At least check it out....it is worth the drive and money!!!

Another option you could go to Windsor and stay at the casino and have dinner and stuff like that.

Let us know what you decide!!
S. :)

Friends and I stayed at the Springhill Suites in Frankenmuth. It's right downtown and you can walk to all the chicken eating places. A little bit farther but Traverse City is beautiful with fall colors, winery, the bay, etc.
Have fun whatever you do! My husband and I also have a November anniversary. :-)

You can do a bed and breakfast or just find a hotel with jacuzzi rooms and plan a romatic night. With the fall colors the drive to the destination can be beautiful.

Congratulations!! We love Frankenmuth!!! It's very romantic. They have carriage rides for two around town and I would recommend eating at Zehnder's. We just got back from there and it was beautiful. Some hotels offer romance packages. Or MGM Grand in Detroit is awesome. The food is great but the rooms start at 300.00 a night
