What Does Your Guestroom Look Like?

A., my dear, the guestroom that you describe is called a hotel room. Why are you so obsessed with where guests will sleep?

Going out on a limb here, but...

Have you actually SOLD anything of whatever it is you're selling here? Have you had any bites?

Queen size bed, no headboard or footboard. Nightstand with a lamp, box of kleenex. A rocking chair. A closet that is for the most part empty. This room has access to a full bath (jack and jill). No dresser or t.v.
We have wifi in the house so they can use whatever electronics they bring.

I figured it out!! This isn't about guest rooms or sleeping with your sister, you are helping your parents plan their new home!! Wow! What a good child you are. :)

What's the problem? You had to change your question about kids giving up their beds for guests to what kind of guest room you have. Well it depends on where you are in life -- to no kids and a nice bedroom to kids with people moving around to no kids and hobbies taking over rooms.

If you are so unhappy with the living arrangements at your house, get a job and move out to your own place. That way you won't have to bug us about how a room should be.

Time for you to get a life and learn something practicial than to keep asking us the same stuff in a different way.

I have no guest room - I have a two bedroom townhome. When we have guests they stay in our room and we sleep in the kids room on an air mattress.

My son's room with grownup sheets and duvet on his bed instead of his.

OR in a pinch -if I can't use his room for some reason AND it's a singlet person- I can put a twin in the laundry room with just enough room to open the door.

You know... If you hate your house so much... Sleep outside for a week. It would do you good. Of better yet, go to a shelter and see what real hardship is.

If you were my kid it would now look like a messy dusty garage with a cold hard cement floor and a sleeping bag. Lots of spiders for company, probably even a few special ones. You know the ones that are black with the red hour glass on their bellies. If I was feeling generous I'd leave the big dog bed for you to curl up on. I'd make sure the dogs were in for the evening, even the 18 year old who has trouble in the a.m. making it off the bed mentioned above before he pees and poops. Only the best for you!

ETA: Read other posts by this user. Looks to be a spoiled teenager who will have to be out of his or her room when family/friends visit for a whole week (THE HORROR).

My 'guest room' looks exactly like my five year old son's room. Full-sized futon. No television, no computer, internet access... no dresser for the guest, not much closet space.

(Parental controls? Seriously? Isn't it good manners when you are a child visiting another person's house that you don't just disappear into the guest room with the computer, but come out and socialize? Oh, no wonder we have these "all about me" kids these days.... )

However: lots of entertainment! Tinkertoys, castle blocks, legos and dinosaurs abound... AND you get to share the one dinky bathroom at our house with the three of us. :)

Even when I go to a friend's house, I do not expect any of these amenities (tv, internet access etc.) That's what a hotel is for.

My kids are out of cribs...no longer have cribs.

Our guest bedroom has a double bed, dresser and closet space for guests...

There is a desk in there as well...each side of the bed has a night stand with a Tiffany lamp. The night stand on the farthest side has an alarm clock.

we have a blanket stand that has extra blankets and a pillow for our guests...sheets are fresh and bed is made.

We have wireless internet and give guests access to the internet.
No TV. None of our guests have EVER wanted one in there.
No Computer - we do have a notebook they can use if they don't have their own laptop.

You assume everyone has has a guest room. Only my in-laws stay with us because they are very adaptable and willing to sleep on a futon in the basement. Every room in our house is occupied.

ETA: Oh, now I see why your question seemed so obnoxious! You're the same spoiled teenager who had her nose all bent out of shape for having to give up her room because her family was having guests! Got it!

It looks like my couch in the living room. :) Probably not very helpful....

ETA: I did check out your past posts, and it looks like you may be getting bent out of shape about giving a kid's bed to an adult? Growing up, our first few homes had no guest room and we kids would camp out (sleeping bags in the living room with a special movie and some snacks) if guests came; adults had our beds and that was perfectly fine with us. Later we had a "tv room" with an old TV and a sleeper sofa, where we kids always played our video games...if guests came they took my bed and I'd sleep on the sleeper sofa with female cousins, male cousins would sleep in my brother's room with the bunk beds and sleeping bags. At my last home with the parents, the adults would (still) take my bed and my brother's bed, and we'd go upstairs (unused rooms and bathroom normally) for bunkbeds. Wasn't a big deal. Now we have a lovely guest room, but it took time and money to get one. I suggest you get a job and your own place so you can decorate as you see fit.

Reading other peoples' responses, I'm guessing you're unhappy with the guest room at your house? Things take time and money. ALL things take time and money. We started out in a 1 bedroom apartment, and if my mom came to visit, she got my bed and I laid the futon mattress on the floor. After I was married and had a baby: we were in another 1 bedroom apartment. The bed was for us and we had a little portable crib that we moved from living room to bedroom as needed for the baby. I had to put my mom in a hotel (she was my guest, so I paid for the hotel) when she came to see the baby. From there it has evolved, we have evolved, our financial situation has changed, and I really do LOVE my guest room!

We live near the beach, and know that is probably something our guests want to visit while here, so the guest room is a beach theme. It has a lovely very light blue paint, with white trim. I have a neat restored, antique dresser (drawers empty except the bottom for extra sheets in case of a mishap, and 2 extra blankets), a night stand with a flashlight, notepad, pen, lamp, and a couple books they may like (I change these out depending on who's visiting). I bring in a bottle or 2 of water when someone is staying. The other side of the bed has a pedestal with an alarm clock, coaster, and a bud vase where I put fresh flowers when someone is coming to stay. The bed is a nice iron queen size bed, there's a small TV/VCR (not that anyone needs to watch it, but it's there if they want....and if I have a date night at home then we'll put the kids in that room and they stay occupied because of the novelty of having a TV in bed: we don't allow TVs in bedrooms otherwise). It has an adjoining full size private bath and under the cabinets I have a tub with everything one could possibly need (all toiletries, first aid, sewing kit, anything) and "the good towels". It has it's own walk in closet with hangers, but I admit we took half of that closet to store the Christmas tree, 2 ornament boxes, and the camping supplies. They have the other half though, and that is plenty. The bathroom paint is a different color but matches the room, the bedding ties the 2 colors together. I have a little crystal bowl with lovely shells and a sand dollar we found, there's some fun pictures in 2 framed collages of the kids at the beach, a hanging mirror, some nice artwork in the bath, and on the dresser are a couple small framed photos of family/friends (especially if they're the ones staying in there, lol).

Our guest room has a closet with hangers and a shelf hanging organizer in it. No dresser. There is a hope chest (a place to sit and store extra sheets and blankets) at the end of the queen size bed. A night table with an alarm clock and a lamp is next to the bed. No TV, no computer but we do have wireless. The guest room is downstairs off of the family room where there is a tv and a computer and next to the man cave which also has a tv that they can watch. It's a beautiful room painted a soft grey with white trim, white closet doors and white blinds with black and white bedding with a splash of yellow.
I also have extra blankets up in the closet and a pack and play in the closet if its needed.

I finally have a guestroom after 20 years of marriage and 1 kid moving out.
Before that it was just futons on the living room floor, one large couch, one Ikea fold out couch. We gave up our beds for company....Oh I think you asked that one already.

We have a Queen bed, two dressers at nightstands, TV, built-in desk, fake fireplace b/c it's cold, private bathroom, with a walk through closet and my sewing machine

My guest room is my 9 year old's room. Mattresses on the floor, 1/2 of a closet, and a bathroom in the hall.

Full size bed, dresser that is half full of our off season clothes (and half room for guest clothes) and night stand with a cool lamp. Plus a closet with space for guest's hanging clothes. No TV or chair - the room is too small. Yes, internet access, we have wi-fi throughout the house. We've never had people with small kids come stay, so no crib or co sleeping pad needed.

If you'll come build another room on the house, then I might be able to have one....

We have a futon that folds out to a queen side bed in the computer room. :) No room in the closet, but it does have an adjoining bathroom.

A queen bed and a small table on either side of the bed. The closet is not done being "built" (ie, no poles nor shelves to hang/put items). So when guests come (the in-laws and single men are the only ones who have ever stayed over so far), I put a table in there for them to put their suitcase on.

No dresser yet, no couch, no crib, no tv, no computer. We have wi-fi at the house, so if they ask for the password we will give it to them. Or if they need to use our computer, they can do so.

We live out in the country, so I keep a flashlight on their bedside table too. Ideally, I'd have a "guest bathroom" stash of stuff for guests - benadryl, immodium, feminine products, nail clippers, bandaids, qtips - those kind of things you don't pack, but sometimes need when not at home.

What does my guestroom look like? A messy storage room. :( Haha. So sad. It used to have a bed and nightstand w/lamp and our computer desk was in there. I'm not sure what happened. Oh yeah, I went back to work full-time and had a husband in school. Priorities!

Our guest room has 1 twin bed and we have another twin in storage in case we have 2 guests. It has a dresser and a closet. No TV or computer. We don't have TVs or computers in any bedroom.

We have a couch that converts into a bunk bed. We also have a nightstand, a mirror and a closet.

It doubles as our study, so it has a convertible couch, 4 full book-cases, two desks, two computers, and our printer and stuff, a small TV, as well as a closet that is already full of our storage. Nothing but the couch is there for the guests, although I really don't care if they use the TV. No one had better get on my computer without asking, but I would probably be happy to share if they asked...

Ours looks like an office.
I work from home.
We don't have a place for guests to stay (except for a nearby hotel).

When we had one (had to convert it):
-queen bed
-2 nightstands w/lamps & a glass water jug & cup
-med size dresser
-closet (I used the closet for winter clothes storage)

No TV.
Internet access.

My room has a full white wood bedroom set with bookcase, reading corner
My inlaws have a computer desk in one corner and a futon in the other.

i have two guest rooms. one has a queen bed with two night stands and a dresser (mirror on top). beautiful bedding and matching decorative pillows.
my second guest room has a daybed (two full size), and ok bedding, with a matching dresser.

Unfortuantely right now it looks like a storage unit! It is also our computer room and I keep all the kids school supllies, craft items, wrapping paer ect in there. it has a big closet. i also have a shelving unit, a table with built in lamp and a bed in there. I am hoping now that kids are back in school I can get it back to looking like a guest room and not an unorganized storage unit!

It's a spare bedroom so it has a closet. A bed, two small dressers, a tv. And the obvious. . . Like a clock, lamps, waste basket. No computer, no crib.

It's our office, so it has a bed with a nightstand, etc. but the room is filled with books and I tend to use the bed for my coupons. There was a dresser in there, but we put in book shelves instead. There is a closet for clothes but it is filled with all of my kids crafting materials.

My in-laws visit every two years, and we get the occasional guest otherwise. Why make it about people who are rarely around? Instead, it's my office.
