What to Buy for Valentines

4 days before he proposed to me, was Valentine's day and I got him a shirt that read "Mr. Fantastic" - 12 years later, he still pulls it out and smiles as he puts it on.

He's getting a personalized card from www.treat.com AND some sexual favors. ;)

Pinterest last year had so many good ideas. For example, I took a deck of cards and wrote 52 reasons why I love my hubby. I am not even crafty but it turned out great. The year before I did an " adults only" theme. I gave him a "photo shoot" with him taking pictures of me in all the nighties he has given me over the years that he complains I never wear. We had so much fun taking all the pictures together. I know I am far from a Victoria Secret Model but we put on some mood music, I had some wine, and oh what a night! Blessings!

I got my husband a gift certificate to get a tattoo ;)

For my husband's birthday one year I typed out a list entitled "What I love about you". In it I listed everything from "you take out the trash without being asked" to "you give me the last cookie in the package" to "you are never too busy to sit on the floor and play tea party with our girls" to "you love me even when I don't love myself".

It took a few days to complete because I'd think of something else to add. I printed it on nice paper and included it with his other gift. He loved it and keeps it hidden in his drawer. If you were to ask him what his favorite present I've ever given him is, he'd say the letter.

Valentines is a litle more sticky than Christmas as Valentines is for loved ones. Be careful with this one.

Just making sure - this is the person you date right? If not, disregard my answer! Does he like sports? How about tickets (or an IOU for tickets so he can pick the date) to a game? SF Giants maybe? SanJose Sharks? Tools are a good one in my household. My husband is handy and does like a good quality tool for the job. Does he have one that he wants or needs upgraded? Buy it and be sure it's returnable in case he needs to return it for one with different features that suit him.(use the same idea for any equipment he uses - fishing, camping, hunting etc.) Does he like wine? How about treating him to a day of wine tasting in Napa? Does he like golf? How about a gift cert. to a driving range? Does he like art? How about taking him to an art museum in SF followed by dinner? Think about the things he likes to do - especially if he isn't able to do them too often. Then it's a really a treat to experience them once in awhile. If you need a more economical option that's still very thoughtful, how about making him a candlelight dinner (something very nice that you make - no boxed meal) . Dress as if you were going to very nice restaurant. Send daughter to a relative or babysitter for the evening. Have nice music playing. Have a movie he would like rented (even if you don't watch it until much later in the evening - lol!) and just spend time together. Whatever you decide, good luck!

Something he's said he wants.
I, also, make dinner, buy some fantastic decadent desserts, light candles, write him a nice note etc.

I'm sending my husband on a blacksmithing course. Not very romantic, o realise, but his birthday is a few days before so it's a combination gift. He's teaching himself to weld (thanks YouTube) and I'm sure he'll love some professional help. I always try to get him (and everyone) something that they'd love, but wouldn't think of asking for. I think gifts should be more about thought and time than money. Even a little blue box, while nice, means very little if it's picked out by his secretary. Good luck.
