I missed the religion question! I guess I can't ask what it was -or it will get this pulled! They really need to leave posts alone -even if reported -unless they're absolutely improper (racist, singling one person out, trying to sell something/solicit business, etc.). Why do they think their site is so popular? Moms DO have other things than kids to talk about!

I noticed the other day that an anti-vaccine question was posted, and then pulled down a couple of hours later. I had responded to the question, as had a number of other people, and I thought the conversation was quite civil and well thought out on all sides. It's a shame when they pull things down just because they're controversial - especially when there are a number of great responses to the question when it's taken down.

I didn't see the one that was pulled today about religion.

The biggest bummer to me is that the really good stuff is deleted almost immediately, and yet they'll let 5,000 questions about how to get rid of pacifiers stay on the board. (I mean really... the question has been asked and answered a gazillion times... use the search function, people! Sheesh.)

I really cannot pin down the criteria they use to decide when a post gets pulled. I have read things here (questions and answers) that I think must have felt like a dagger in the heart to the recipient. But that doesn't get pulled. I have seen posts that if I were the moderator at Mampedia, I would turn over to CPS. But then I have read posts where insightful, differing viewpoints are being shared. It doesn't feel scary or negative or divisive...But it gets pulled.

I didn't see the question referred to here.
A few months ago, I asked the Mamasource support people
about criteria for pulling a post or an answer.
A human being answered that if there are some "reports"
it would get pulled. She wouldn't give me a number.
I imagine there are people who read here who do NOT write.
So we don't know just where they are "coming from".
I wrote one of my absolute best pieces of writing (imo)
maybe a month or two ago and it got pulled
because some people thought it was sarcastic,
according to the Mamapedia human being who answered my question.
I really hadn't intended it as sarcastic.
Was just responding to what the mother had specifically asked.
Oh well.

Hi Mamas
B. K here,the above offender!! LOL
I've just signed in looking forward to reading the responses on the Religion post to realise it got pulled.
Sent a private message to one of the responders to see if she knew what happened and she directed me here.
I was starting to think that there must have been some mad off the wall responses going down and I missed the action!!
Thats a pain as I didn't get a chance to read all the responses as I had to go off to bed for work this morning.
It was 1am here when signing off and had to be up at 6.30am.
Losing my sleep on this site!!
I'm disappointed as I love discussions with intelligent strong interesting women and thought this site was more diverse than the narrow range of being a mother.
We are still individuals who sometimes like to venture into other topics other than motherhood etc.
Positivity to all
B.

I answered it as well. It wasn't one of FAVS that has been pulled, but it is still one of a LONG list of posts I would judge as *slightly* off topic, but no more so than hundreds of other, and was an interesting and good post with both straight and insightful feedback by the responders. (Straight like: I'm Jewish, or I'm agnostic, or I'm x, y, z) It wasn't promoting anything, and had 2 direct and well thought out questions.

Yeah... the number of pulled posts (and their complete disappearance) is one of the reasons I'm phasing out of this board, much as I've loved it over the years. I'm just staying on to try and "save" some of my favorite posts by others/ replies by me'self (hard when there's no search option and I have several thousand posts)... and piping in on Q's through the process of sifting, sorting, and saving.

I don't what thier criteria is - but I wish they would clarify it. I love when I recive a flower for a response folow the link and I get nowhere...

Oh well!

Perhaps it only gets pulled if enough people Report it (although I hope not becuase that would reflect poorly on us mothers....)

Ha ha! I don't know what question Bernie asked but I think one of my responses to one of your questions got flagged and deleted by Mamapedia once. It's Big Brother and the thought police.

Yeah, I was answering it and clicked to answer...and it was gone! I wonder why it got pulled, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. But, I would have to think that someone reported it...I don't think someone sits on this board all day and reads what everyone writes!

Big Brother. LOL. They pulled it, huh? That question's been asked before. Hmm, interesting.

How does everyone noticed that these posts are pulled? I've never noticed it.

Since I did not read Bernie's question I can only say---My 2 cents worth is that this is not a place where we debate or judge-- as if we had the time right? But a place to get and recieve help for the large and small questions that mothers/dads face all the time. Often we get the same question worded a bit differently from several people but it fits the need.
My son tells me that there are chat rooms and other sites for the other types of topics that can come up.
I don't believe it has anything to do with small or narrow views, and I appreciate not having to face the swearing since I hear enough of it in other places.
