Where Are All the Posts???

I'm new. I responded to questions and was showing my wife some of the questions and answers....it started a good conversation and gave us some laughs..

However, there were a few that I wanted to show her about the State of the Union, Romney's Taxes (which I didn't get to respond to) and a few others. But they are not here anymore. What happened to them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

so who determines what's "nasty"? It's obvious by the other post that the moderators or monitors of the site are asleep at the wheel. That is wrong.

So if I disagree with someone's post or they disagree with mine, it gets reported? That's really juvenile. If you don't like what they say - why not skip it?

A better question would be why are some posts still here. That a member can be attacked like 8kidsdad has been tonight is shameful.

Mr. Mom/P.:

This is the cattiness you were warned about. People most likely reported them because it "offended" them or they felt it was flaming. There is one post right now that should be reported - when you personally call someone on the carpet? using their name in particular? **THAT'S** flaming. Poor form. REALLY poor form.

that "report" button you see below this text? yeah - that one - it's WAY overused here. Especially when people start talking politics....some people can be nice and mature, others can't.

Like my State of the Union address - yeah - supposedly it got out of control. I don't know - it was pulled and I was never notified. I guess people didn't like what others had to say. When last I saw it - everyone - was opinionated but respectful. Apparently, somewhere from Tuesday to Friday - it got out of control and people went nuts.

Any way - that's what happens if you can't find a response to a question or a question - you look in your recently asked questions or recently answered questions and it's not there? It got pulled because someone didn't have their big kid underwear on!! :)

Well, if we could answer the question "Why do some posts get pulled, and others do not", we might have to talk about the weather. Or worse yet, motherhood.

Clearly, the WEEKEND is the time to post risque questions!

:)

Political questions often (although not always) get deleted.

Ditto for religion or sex Q's.

Even if you save them, even if you respond. The OP gets a copy of their Q... but not the responses. Something a lot of people do is copy/paste Q's they really like and save them. Other people get a daily digest emailed to them (the Q will only be on there if it hasn't been pulled yet, but they can't unsend email).

This platform is pretty sucky, but we love it so much we stay here anyway. I'd love it if they could do a "thread closed" option, but I'd love it if they did a lot of things (like have a working search option. I've answered over 40 ADHD q's in the past year, but 'search' adhd and you get stuff from 2006-2012 in reaaaaaaaaly random order. Like hundreds of posts with no discernable pattern to them. Ironically Mamasource was coosing between a wikipedia platform and a google platform and had THOUGHT the wiki platform woul search more smoothly. Whoops. Don't know what went wrong. But it's really really really cumbersome round these parts.)

Nasty posts, or threads that get out of hand, usually get pulled. And that awful one about 8kidsdad will be gone by Monday morning.

Likely, someone reported it as inappropriate, and it got pulled.

Sometimes, heated issues cause people to get all pissy and rude and people report it as flaming.

Sometimes certain posts get pulled because.... they are reported because some people don't want them on here or mamapedia pulls them.

Posts that get pulled are typically hot topic items like politics, spanking, vaccines, etc...

i was pretty annoyed that my response to cheryl's SOU address was pulled. i spent a lot of time on it and it wasn't up an hour before the mods got it.
i'm okay with them pulling ad hominems, but threads that are heated but respectful should get left alone.

I deleted my Romney's Taxes one due to popular demand (apparently because everyone was so freaked out about the State of the Union one and people popped on begging me not to post political posts), and then the thread got pulled (I guess the freaked out people also reported it-it really was tame, honest!!!)

But have no fear, I will re-post, Mwa ha ha!!!

& then we have those questions which are obviously...trolls! Fake, bogus questions....we've had quite a few of those. Surprisingly, some of the troll questions stay up longer than the fun political ones. Go figure!

I've been on here for years now, & the lack of tolerance is disconcerting. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That's what makes the world go 'round, that's what makes us individuals. It's a shame that the "hot topic" list is growing.....

Welcome, & I hope the experience is informative, entertaining, & a good way to spend a few minutes.....

If you go to your account on the upper right hand corner of the page you should see "call me mr. mom's" account, if you click on that you should be able to see all your past questions and another tab for all your past answers and you can pull up the questions that way. Unless they have been pulled due to being political or something, random stuff gets pulled on here, I would imagine posts like I hate 8kidsdad will get pulled as well.
