Hi Ladies,
Currently I am 9 weeks pregnant. My doctor (as of now) is Arlene Jacobs with Plano Women's Healthcare at Medical Center of Plano. She has been my doctor since I was 15 and I LOVE her to pieces. When I had my daughter, I had to switch to medicaid and unfortunately she didn't accept medicaid, so for the duration of my pregnancy I went to a clinic that I would NEVER return to. Long story short, my labor and entire labor experience with my daughter was HORRIBLE! Everything about it. I had her at Preby Dallas. I love doctor Jacobs, but I have heard some not so great stories about the L&D department at Medical Center of Plano (where she delivers and I think the only place she delivers). Can anyone help?? I would love to hear some of your stories or reccomendations if you have any. Thank you so much. If it comes down to it and I feel that delivering at that hospital will be a bad experience, I am willing to consider switching doctors. Also, another concern, I live in Melissa and that hospital is pretty far from my house.

What can I do next?

I had both my kids at Medical Center of Plano and was treated like a queen. I have an almost 4 year old girl and a one year old boy. I'm not planning on more kids, but if I were to have another I'd go back to MCP. Everyone was great, the nurses, the lactation consultants, the nursery staff, everyone.

I delivered 13 yrs ago at Medical Center Plano and it was a dream. I can just imagine how much better things are now.

Dr. Rovner is my Dr.. I was back there in 2001 with a hysterectomy and again.....Dream.

Best wishes!

Funny we have the same story with our first deliveries. Same scenario, same place, and unfortunately same outcome. I delivered my second at MCP and loved it. That was 7 years ago. I am expecting again in August and my doc. wants to deliver at Baylor of Frisco. I took a tour and it was nice.
Then I went to MCP and it is still my first choice. It has a good hospital rating (lookup hospital checkup on the web). It is one of the highest level NICU hospitals in the area at level 3, which means if something happens my child will receive the highest level care available in the shortest amount of time, and we will still be in the same hospital. Other hospitals have to send the infants to MCP while the mom has to stay at that hospital.
MCP is also like a grand cheaper than Baylor and I am a self pay so that is also nice.
The rooms are all private, large, and clean. I haven't taken the tour yet but I was told they just revamped the place so it should be just as up to date as any other hospital.
And most importantly, I have been there and done it before so I am assuming I will have somewhat the same experience as before and that is o.k. with me.
My sister in law who is so picky delivered there five weeks ago and had no complaints so it must be up to par with everything she expected as a first time mom; use to the finer things ;)
Well, hope this helps and take a tour of a couple of the locale hospitals to compare. Ask about NICU, and services, and charges, security, or whatever your concerns. It is free and will ease your mind to have seen your options and know you did what is best. Congrats- T. M.

C.,
I had my daughter delivered via c-section at Medical Center of Plano and had a great experience. The NICU nurses were great. The lactation consultant was very helpful. I ended up staying for 4 days and had no problems whatsoever. Of course that was four years ago but if I decide to have another child that is where I would choose to deliver. Hope this helps.
Good Luck,
K.

Two years ago, I heard the same horror stories and was really worried about delivering there. But, I didn't have ANY problems. I loved the place. I am now pregnant with my second and the ONLY reason I *might* not go back there is because it's really far away from my home. My doctor delivers at both PMC and Baylor-Frisco and she has given me the choice between the too.

Hello C.. I haven't delivered at Medical Center of Plano but I worked there for 2 years recently and I have never heard anything bad about delivering there. I worked with Dr. Jacobs patients post op in recovering room and she is nothing but excellent. She did my hyst and helped me control my stress. She has excellent bedside manner. I think this would be great for you. Oh by the way I only left because I worked full time AND took call and I am a single mom with 3 kids who just couldn't do it all anymore. Good Luck!
