I have a identical twin sister although we don't look alike, we are alike in some ways, quite different in others. So, who is a twin? Did you have twins? Are yall just alike? We have the twin thing (I know when she is worried, sick, in trouble vice versa) and as kids we finished each others sentences. Who else has a twin and are y'all as close?

What can I do next?

I am mother to beautiful identical twin 14 year old girls. They are also mirror image, which is very cool! One is left handed, the other right. One is more left-brained, the other right-brained. They have identical birth marks in exact same spots, only on opposite legs. My daughters are extremely close. Though alike in more ways than I can count, they also have very different and distinct personalities. They, too, finish each others sentences and speak in unison. When my daughters were 3, one had to have an emergency appendectomy. My parents kept my other daughter while we were at the hospital. Without knowing, at the exact moment my daughter went into surgery, her twin sister began crying and moaning in pain. My mom didn't think about the "twin" thing at first and thought my other daughter may have appendicitis, also. She rushed her to the doctor, only to find that she was fine. She was feeling her sister's pain. This has happened often during the years. They have felt each other's pain, joy, sadness, etc and sensed it. It is an amazing bond, and I am so blessed to be witness to it. On the downside, they like to "lawyer up" for one another, which makes things difficult at times. But, in the end, I couldn't have dreamed of better kids, and I adore them:)

I'm the daughter of an identical twin. It is a lot of fun. My daughter has a hard time telling the difference between my father and his brother. Even at my wedding, my husband tried to introduce his father to my uncle and was wondering how my dad got out of his tux so fast.

My dad and uncle are very close they share a connection like you and your sister. We have learned a lot about the twin thing since my uncle has had to have a triple bipass about 10 years ago and my father has never had heart issues. Then my father had spleen cancer this past year (cancer-free now!!!) and my uncle has never had cancer. Still, it was so great to know if my father had needed it, there was an identical match for a bone marrow transfer.

I have always been so lucky to have both of them in my life. It has always been like having two dads and having brothers/sisters instead of cousins. :)

I have a male twin, and even though i am a female, we do have that twin thing as well. One time in HS he was sick and stayed home, by third period i knew he was in the hospital and skipped class and went to the hospital, my mom was freaked when i showed up thinking i was sick too, and i just said no i knew he was here. we now live 1300 miles apart and we still know when something has happened to the other. he knew i was in labor before i even got to call my mom. its an amazing relationship to have with someone. I don't think its just being identical, i think its an emotional and spiritual bond

My husband has a twin brother (identical) although they look similar, they are not so identical that you can't tell them apart. He said that they did have that twin connection when they were little but not so much now. My mom has a twin sister (fraternal), and they are very close. My husband also has identical twin aunts who have not gotten along for the past several years.

Yes I am and we are close now. We struggled as kids but I really think our mom was the reason since my twin had open heart surgery, she was treated younger and like she was fragile.....but as adults we are super close and I love that I have a sister to experience life with. We look like sisters for sure but there are differences of course and we are totally different personality-wise.....

Hi,
I have an identical twin sister. Everyone says we look alike of course we can't see it. I have three children (no twins), she lost triplet boys (22wks) and has two living children. Our children look nothing alike but my brother's oldes boy and my middle son look very similar that they often get ask if they are twins (I get a kick out of that). When we were little we had our own "language" and my parents best friends had twins boys same age as us and we all "talked" to one another starting around 6/7months. My Mom loves to remind us that when my sister was in the hospital from a bike accident (10 years old) I told everyone what she was saying when she was mumbling while unconsious. Also, when I got shots in my leg she had trouble walking. As far as personalitilies, she is very loud and outspoken where I tend to hold back and keep my thoughts to myself. My oldest son thinks its funny that she is also 3 inches taller than me (although I have no idea why thats funny). As far as our relationship now, I would say we are clearly friends but I am much closer to our younger brother.
Thanks for the question these are fun to read!

You can't be an identical twin if you don't look alike. The only differences would be if one baby was bigger than the other or had more hair, etc. But it's like a mirror image.

Fraternal twins don't necessarily look alike - any more than another sister or brother.

Twins, like all kids are going to have different personalities and may be total opposites, but most twins will have a special bond like you talk about.

There have been documented instances where twins (identical AND fraternal) are separated at birth and may be hundreds of miles apart growing up, but when they are reunited, there are accounts like you mention: worried, sick, in trouble, etc....

It's FUN!
