Unmotivated 16 Year Old

My 16 year old daughter is very smart, but is very unmotivated to complete her school work, therefor seems to be running a C average in almost everything. I speak to her teachers who say she 'drifts off' in class. She often gets zeros for homework she 'does not feel like doing'. I realize a C average is not the end of the world, but I know she is capable of more and would like her to be able to go to college. I have taken away privliges, offered incentives, etc, and she says she will do better, and may for a very short time, then its back...

Skipping a Grade

I am faced with the decision of letting my 7 year (1st Grade) old skip the 2nd grade. He was going to the 2nd grade for reading and math time, so he could continue to learn at his level. He no longer does that due to schedule changes between the 1st grade and 2nd grade. His teacher still gives him 2nd grade work on and he also helps the other kids. Skipping from 1St to 2Nd Grade

My daughter's principal called us last week and said they would like to skip my daughter from 1st to 2nd grade in January. My daughter's birthday is Oct 31, and the school cut-off is Sept. 1. So she will be younger than the 2nd graders by at least 2 months. She is currently getting enrichment in English & Math, and is bored in school generally.
