So I have finally weaned my son and would now like to do a cleanse since I wasn't able to do that while breastfeeding. Does anyone have any recommendations on a simple cleanse?

What can I do next?

L.,
I am personally against those cleanse programs. I think you lose nutrients. Having a good protein shake twice a day with 8 servings of fruits and, along with a good multivitamin for a week works great.
Let me know if you want a suggestion for the shake and vitamin.

Hi L.,
I have used the Isagenix products for a couple of years now and plan to do a cleanse as soon as I am done breastfeeding (son #2 is due in two weeks!). I have read all of the comments about cleanses, I have spoken to my doctors about them and have heard what nutritionists have to say about them too. What I can tell you from experience is that after I completed a cleanse, I no longer crave white flour, sugars, etc. This has lead to a HUGE improvement in my diet. But since you didn't ask for info on the specifics of how a cleanse works, you can find this cleanse by going to www.banishcravingsloseweight.isagenix.com. If you're interested in buying the products wholesale, let me know.
Good luck!

Hi L.,

I use a product called Fiberwise. The primarily ingredient is psyllium husk but it is full of electrolytes and also antioxidants. I actually feel good from it. Fiber and staying cleansed is very important not only for digestive health but your overall immune system and heart health as well. Health issues do develop from not being cleaned out. I am a living example as my childhood was riddled with it. "Stuff" covers the nutritional absorption sites so the nutrients that we eat or take in from vitamins cannot be absorbed into the bloodstream. You don't have to be "clogged" for health issues to develop. Keeping a healthy balance is very important. (Healthy is defined as a "movement" approximately one hour after EVERY meal.)

Let me know if you'd like more information on the Fiberwise. I hope I helped!

I believe the safest and most natural way to cleanse is to cleanse with healthy foods and not with chemicals and powders. I have done both the Fast Track Detox Diet (Ann Louise Gittleman) and the Perfect Health Program (by Deepak Chopra at the Chopra Center). Although the Fast Track Detox Diet recommends a few supplements, I only did the food portion of the cleanse and it worked wonderfully and was gentle. I had a lot more energy and felt better overall.

A few years after doing that cleanse, I went to the Chopra Center to do the Perfect Health program. It's quite pricey but afterward, I felt better than I ever have before. The companion book to this cleanse gives you most of the information you'd need to start a healthy routine. When I am finished nursing my son, I will go back to the Perfect Health program. Just be sure to research any of our suggestions to find what is the safest and healthiest program for you. Best of luck!

If you're talking about a colon cleanse, my physiology professor says these products are a hoax. If your digestive tract was in any way, shape or form clogged, you would have very serious health problems. Even diverticulitis is painful, and a colon cleanse would not help that, either.

If I were you, I would NOT do any of the cleansing products. First of all, they are not FDA approved. You're actually putting something into your body and you don't know how it was made, who handled it, etc. There are no regulations on these types of manufacturers. They can be putting anything under the sun and they can get away with it.
You might be harming yourself instead of helping your health! Fiber works the exact same way as an over the counter cleanse. If you want something more, then go to a professional and have a colonic procedure.

It is what I used 4 years ago and I not only dropped 40 pounds and kept it off for 4 years now. I am more mentally clear, i sleep soundly, I have more energy than my 20 year old niece and I love me again.

Here is what I know about cleansing:
1. the body cleanses naturally WHEN it is fed properly.
2. If you starve the body (like most cleanses do) it is not good for you
3. When you deplete the body - you must replenish - so you NEED to refeul the body while cleansing
4. If it were true that if we "ate well and exercised more" we wouldn't have the problems, RIGHT...have you looked outside lately.
5. EVERY culture "cleanses" many religions "fast" multiple times a year.
6. I change the oil in my car, I change the filters in my furnace, now I “cleanse” my organs on a daily basis.
7. North America needs a North American cleanse.
www.SoYouWantToCleanse.com is the only one I found that cleanses, replenishes and revitalizes.

Isagenix is an excellent cleanse....full organ cleanse...not just colon and it's gentle on the system! It helped me not only take off the 17 extra pounds I could not lose after having two kids, but also helps me sleep like a baby and wake up with the energy I need to keep going. The program also incorporates shakes to provide you with the proper nutrition in your day. It is awesome! Go to www.tayalereve.isagenix.com to order and see www.drspeaksout.com for an overview on the program. I welcome you to call me with any questions.

I used Cleanse ProX because they had a free 30 day trial online. I paid $6 for shipping. I had some stomach discomfort, as was to be expected, but I lost 8 pounds in the first 21 days. And all that while eating just like I normally do.
