Dear Moms:

I am considering Pediatric Associates in San Jose for my 2 year-old daughter. There are five different doctors that work out of two offices: Dr. Drucker, Dr. Kapoor, Dr. Griswold, Dr. Contini and Dr. Veramini. Do any of you use them or have used them in the past? Would you recommend them? Why or why not? Also, is there a specific doc in the practice that you would recommend?

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

We have Dr. Griswold. I think she is really great. She is very informed and takes the time to answer any questions we have. We really like her.

Hi E.. We have been very happy with Pediatric Associates. My oldest boy will be 4 in two weeks, we have a 2 year old boy, and a new baby arriving next month. Dr. Drucker is their pediatrician, but I have been very happy with Drs. Kapoor and Griswold and the nurses when I've had to take the boys in for sicknesses when Dr. Drucker wasn't in (I haven't met the other Drs.). Dr. Drucker is very gentle and sweet, takes time to listen to all my concerns and questions. I don't feel rushed when I go to the office. I also like how he is not quick to over-treat. My oldest son is very petite (almost 4, about 27 pounds, good height, eats a ton, very active). I know other parents in similar situations, and their doc is getting them worried about their child's weight. Long story short, Dr. Drucker has never expressed alarm over it (my son just has my genes and looks just like me at that age), and he takes the time to point out that he certainly is following a definite growth curve - even if it is below "average" percentiles. I think he is great at realizing that kids do things at their own pace, but would certainly speak up if he thought there was anything out of the "ordinary."
I have never had a problem getting my kids in for same-day sick appointments, and I have called the after-hours line several times and gotten great advice, even once when we were on vacation.
(As a complete side note, all the nurses at Good Sam Hospital commented on the "wonderful circumcision" Dr. Drucker did on both my boys when they were born. As a new parent, that was reassuring).
Good luck with your decision!

We currently see Dr. Contini...or as my kids call him "dr. Pete". We LOVE him. I know everyone says they have the best, but we honestly believe Dr. Pete really cares. Beleive me, we went through 3 peidatricians due to mannerisims and comfortabilitly of and for the kids. He is very polite to the kids and treats them age approriately. He treats us with the doctor/parent level respect as well as the parent to parent level. He has 4 young kids of his own. That alone says alot about his dedication to children. They seemed to have had a turnover with their receptionist staff...all for the better. I am a mother of 4, 3 boys 1 girl. Ages 12, 11, 7 & 5. Each one has never been nervous when they see Dr. Pete. They actually look forward to seeing him...even when there are shots involved! Same day appts. are never a problem. He never makes you feel like you have wasted his time. Good luck with your decision.

I use Dr Contini for my 2 year old and my new born. I love that office :-) When I have had sick kids or any other problems I am ALWAYS in the office within a couple of hours. I have never waited in the waiting room, and rarely see anyone else in the room period. There staff are really nice and Norma (the nurse) is the most kid friendly woman I have ever met. Dr Contini is super patient and gives plenty of attention to your questions. I have never felt rushed at all. He is also really supportive, always saying how great the kids look/are doing, and what a great mom you are. Not super important Ig uess, but its always nice to hear. They have a 24 hour nurse line, the doctor that fills in for him on fridays is also very good. I don't remmber her name though...

If you have any specific questions send me a note/message and I will try to anser them. I am really really happy with that office, all the staff, and the doctor. Our last pediatrician was fine, but this dr is above and beyond.

Good luck!

Hi E.!

My 6 yr old son and 9 mo old girl see Dr. Griswold. She is very sweet and listens. We have also seen Dr. Drucker and Contini when Dr. Griswold was unavail. VERY nice. Have not seen other drs there, but the nursing staff is great and you can get same day appts! Kids get stickers for their visit, and have been happy so far. I have recommended at least 3 other moms and they see Dr. Griswold too! Consider if you want a male or female for your kids. My son is very responsive to female and I was recommended Dr. Griswold from my friend's sister. My son loves the way she is so gentle and soft spoken. :)

Hope this helps!

We've gone to Pediatric Assoc. on Samaritan Drive for five years and have been very pleased with all of the staff, nurse practitioners and doctors we have dealt with. When my daughter needs a same day sick appointment we've always been able to get one.

I have been going to Dr. Contini for 5 years and he is great. I first went to him when my son was born and I had Kaiser for insurance and I should of known how great he was because he soon left to join his own practice. I then saw him on KNTV 11 he was featured during some kids health event. Then my new job did not offer Kaiser and I found out that he was in my plan and have been happy ever since. He really takes the time with the child. You can ask him anything and if he notices something out of the ordinary he will be the first to ask about it. He has a few kids of his own and that says a lot. The advice center is great and of course so is Good Samaritan for children. He is fabulous. Good Luck!
